What I loved about it:
The reference of God (Some people said in their reviews it was Christian, well it's not, it only references to God so anyone who believes in God no matter their religion will find this lovely). The reference is subtle as well and mainly inside conversation, not like other books I've read where it was patronizing and stuck in the story out of context.
I loved how the book indirectly encourages sisterly affection, helpfulness and kindness through the helpful dragons' journey and how it encourages happiness and contentment and shows children that perfection comes in different forms and how it is ok to be different from everyone else and be happy all the same. All of this is so subtly insinuated in the poems through the animals they meet such as a limbless dog and a blind cat. The fact that it is so indirect is what makes this a great story!
Plus all the different situations inside the storyline can be small stories on their own for a younger child or over a series of days.
The only thing that would need improving is very minor and that is that the cover looked more like a workbook cover not a reading book so i thought the book wouldn't look that good at first but actually the quality inside was great and the illustrations were so beautiful! And I am not so sure about the dragons breathing candy because, well, candy is not that healthy for kids! I just wouldn't have preferred to attach them to it more...
Even so, this is a book that I whole-heartedly recommend - it is especially wonderful as a read-aloud and bedtime story because it is light, melodious and a delight to read.
