This post is directed at those parents familiar with giving their child a "classical education." Read "The Well-Trained Mind" for more info.
http://www.welltrainedmind.com/classical-education/Recently, someone told me about "Classical Conversations". It's a Christian homeschooling co-op with branches all over the US promoting classical education at home. I think I am going to go to a seminar in the spring to get more info but they don't actually begin until age 4 I think.
The first stage of the trivium is the grammar stage and involves rote memorization of facts that will be used later in the child's education as they begin to manipulate those facts. Well, Classical Conversations promotes the use of song to help kids remember those facts, things like history, skip counting and so forth.
Has anyone used these C.C. cd's with their infant/toddler? They offer 3 different cycles with varying levels of information/ages in history. I was thinking about starting my kids on it now and leaving it on in the background while they play. Some of the CD's have accompanying powerpoints and images to go with the facts depending on which one you purchase. It seems like it would be excellent exposure for more advanced "basics" that they will need to learn eventually anyway. I just wanted to share that here and see if anyone else was using this program, if so, I would love your feedback.
