woof i have been out of it for weeks . my first post . wishing you all a very Merry Christmas , sending you love and God's blessings .
i never heard about testmum till now and i went to the site , to be honest with you i got lost , i tired to get the 100 free questions but i didn't know which tests to choose from . i am so unfamiliar with all these tests
anyway i just got an email from them announcing special new year offer 70 % sale and extra 10 % with coupon code so total 80 % sale for new year .
i am personally not ready for it although it looks interesting , my tina loved primary logic and would love similar workbooks but cannot afford it . we do love brain pop junior i used it with isa for years so if this is included in the deal , wonderful .
i hope somebody would explain to me more how to navigate the site and what to look for .

when did you get the email & when is that offer valid till? I know what you mean about getting lost on that site, definitely not very intuitive. Which coupon code is for the extra 10%? Is it the newmember30 one mentioned earlier in the thread?

Okay, I did read the Ivy Chronicles and it definitely picks up once you get to know the characters. The plot begins to weave more intricately and I was more engaged after about a quarter of the way through. I like that the main character is very human and everything is not peachy constantly, which holds true to the end. It has quite a few twists and I can see how the characters are modeled after ridiculous NYC parents. Yes, some of it is coincidentally unrealistic (use your "suspension of disbelief" just like you're at the movies!) , but this is fiction.

It's not classic literature, but it's not intended to be. I found it to be a lighthearted, humorous read and I liked it. It was entertaining and it provided a window into the high caliber private school culture in New York, which I found interesting. Plus, there are some steamy parts thrown in for fun.  Karen, you animal!

sorry seastar i only saw your post now . i am getting emails from them every day   so i got the new year deal of 70 % off , then another one with 10 % coupon code for new year , and now another one that says private only for me with additional 10 % off and says not to share with anybody .not sure if we can use the 2 coupon codes which brings the discount to 90 % ?? this could be good for many  of you . like i said i wish somebody on the group will explain more how they plan to use the site .

I'm thinking of joining for one month to download & print everything then use the cards in some type of game format. I may rejoin at a later date to avail of all the online membership benefits TmT mentioned.

I'm seriously considering getting IQ Fun Park too - for those who have it already, is it suitable for older children too, e.g. my 10 year old niece?

Okay! So I finally received a response back from Karen Quinn (recall: over a week ago I placed a telephone call to Testing Mom enquiring as to how BK members outside of the US might join as members!)

I will copy the information below from her emailed response, but she assures me there will be no problem:
BONUS! She also added that as the cost of shipping the game overseas can be cost prohibitive, that if you send an email to her at the TestingMom@gmail address, she will check on the individual shipping costs and has offered to "discount the game to make the transaction affordable!"

Below are the contents of two emails from Karen Quinn.  The first is at the bottom in response to my phone call, and then the followup is above it!

If your international members are interested in joining TestingMom.com, the easiest thing for them to do is to pay for the membership they want through PayPal.  Let them know that they should join TestingMom at the FREE level to get the 100 practice questions.  When they do that, they will get their own user name and password to access the site.  They can go to the "Buy Now" Page and decide what level of membership and duration they want.  If they have a PayPal account, they can log into their account, put our email address in - [email protected] - and pay TestingMom for whatever membership they would like.  Then, please ask them to send an email to Michael McCurdy and let him know what membership level they were signing up for and he will activate their account for them.  Michael's address is [email protected].  This is the simplest way for international members to access our program.

She sounds very down to earth. That should work no problem.
So now we just have to figure out the best combination of discounts
VIv if you sign your self up as a member of the site the 100 practice questions option becomes obvious. I am sure I was emailed a link or something. Once signed up you also get endless emails and questions send to your email. We have been using those and the kids look forward to them.
I considered joining as an experiment to see if I could boost the IQ of my entire kindergarten class. I believe that if I could them that would be enough proof that it is possible to produce gifted children. But I am undecided as to whether or not a kid who is trained to answer gifted test question is truly gifted..... Especially if they then enter main stream public school and I can't follow their education from then on. Still it could be fun, I have plenty of questions to get started with.

They offered my a $150 coupon for IQ Fun Park to offset the $160 shipping fee. It's a good discount but postage is still steep. For those of you who have it, do you have any idea how much it would cost to ship if I had it delivered to a friend in the States & then asked them to ship it for me? (Although, now that I write that, it seems more trouble than it's worth!)

Seastar I do that all the time it is always cheaper to Australia but other countries are different.
A few points worth noting. Often it is the size of the box or the ridiculous packaging that bumps up the price. I have saved $40 on single items by having the box binned before postage! Crazy!
That is a very generous discount though. Pretty impressive. Perhaps she is keen to keep us happy

I have been in touch with Karen Quinn and she's offered me a similarly good deal on IQ fun park and a month membership to see how we get on with it (I'm thinking I will just print off lots of questions and unsubscribe after a month!)

I'm just about to send the payment by paypal - but it's quite a lot of money!  Now I'm feeling a bit scared - I think we will really benefit from a game format but it is very expensive.  Does anyone have it already?  Do you love it?  Are there any downsides to be aware of?

No I got the same as you - one month and the game with shipping to UK !!  I am just the same - always worried I didn't get the best deal. Except I'm feeling a bit chicken to buy it now!
