And the Teach Me Tapes are not Entirely in the targeted language. A good chunk of the songs play in the target language and then in English. The books are only in the targeted language except for the parent potion

Just noticed this tread and wanted to add a few of our favorites:

Classical baby -- poetry, music, dance show
All about Animals  -- BBC documentary series ( they also come with corresponding mags, magazines are great but a bit over the heard for my 2 yo, but documentaries are really good and she is watching them since she was 12 months old and always asking for more)
Zippy series from World Family are good for little ones, -- lots of music, activities that they learn to follow, concepts learning
Little Pim Chinese ( or other language that you are learning)
The Alphabet of Science and Animal Alphabet -- first is the old BBC produces one uses poetry, second one is variety of really really good song for each animal ( for each letter of the alphabet), -- really recommend it!

For a bit older kids, ie 3/4-6, I'd like to recommend CBC's old show Mr. Dressup. It really got my son engaged in building things himself in things around the house with reused and recycled items. http://www.cbcshop.ca/cbc/shopping/product.aspx?product_id=etkid00014&variant_id=1295d&lang=en-ca

And it's a bit older as well, but the Little Mammoth series of dvds is fantastic. Totally fascinating, informative and engaging. They would be good from age 4-12 I think... As an adult, I enjoyed watching them and learned a lot. Old School Sesame Street : the original series dvds: These may be from the 1970s but my son just loves them and gets so much learning from them.

Ekkk!!! Mr Dressup! I grew up watching that show when he was still alive. My brother and I were always trying to make something new out of a variety of different things

Is "Ekkk!" like EUK! or yuck? Or is it good! I watched that as a child and it totally supported my interests in drawing, telling stories, make-believe and general craftiness, which is why I bought it for my son. I took the chance that what I watched in 1967 would interest him in 2011, and it was a good bet. He totally loves it.
