This company makes great real life animal figures. They are made of hard rubber, or maybe it's soft plastic, I don't know but the detail is on them is great. We have a cow, pig, and sheep. They are really cool.
Anyway they have hundreds of animals categorized by mammals, water fowl, amphibians, birds, dinosaurs, fish, felines, etc.
You can easily create a standard set of barn yard animals or maybe only do horses as they have about 50 different types of horses. Or can go more academic and get a Long Horned Beetle, a Wooly Mammoth, and a Llama.
