Jones Geniuses Math & Reading Programs- Are you interested?

I have heard fabulous things about the Jones Geniuses Program, their testimonials and news clips are VERY impressive!

I want to purchase this set but they are not BL affiliates and therefore there are no coupon codes available. I was thinking that if we approached their company rep with 3-5 people interested in purchasing they might cut us a small group discount? There's no harm in asking, right?

Right now, I know Waterdreamer and myself are interested in purchasing the program--that makes 2 of us. Please let me know if you are interested as well (seriously) and I will speak to JG about a possible discount. (or waterdreamer if you want to do the negotiating, that's ok with me too! you seem like you contact companies frequently for your blog, you might be better at this type of thing than me but I am willing to try).

I'm a little interested, because they make various dramatic claims about acceleration and because there are some very enthusiastic testimonials, but (a) the world is full of frauds, cranks, and shysters who make dramatic claims, and (b) testimonials are not worth very much, period, because of the nature of statistics.

So what I really need is an in-depth explanation of the nature of the program.  If they can't supply me with that, and are asking me to pay $150 without so much as a look inside the curricula (in fact, I can't even quite tell what I'd be buying), I can't take them very seriously.

If their methods were truly revolutionary, why isn't Dr. Jones a famous zillionaire by now?  I know that one can ask the same question of Doman, but I think we can answer that question re Doman.  I can't answer the question re Jones.

DadDude, I would recommend contacting them via phone and ask to speak to Dr. Jones personally if the rep named Chris cannot answer your questions.

Definitely interested in the early learning program - wish I had some more info about it, I keep getting redirected to the math three page.

I think I know why he's not making a zillion dollars - incompetent business man. The site is atrocious and he doesn't respond to emails or return phone calls. Who wouldn't give up.

Still, if I can get some decent info on the product and be sure my money will be in return for something I'm in

hello all!
i want to let you know that i have had great luck with dr. jones.  we spent a lot of time on the phone.  yes, it did take me a few tries to contact him, but once i did he was very nice.  don't forget that this is a BIG vacation month for educators (and he does have a school in dallas) so he might have just taken some time off.  and i am using the products from him for both math and reading.  yes, the things are a bit "home made" but they are doing the trick and we are learning a lot!  remember, he did start all of this before the internet got so "slick"... AND there are some people who are not great at business.  i don't think that should take away from what they are doing/trying to do.  also, we have to thank our lucky starts that we have such a wonderful resource available to us like LR and LM and the brillkids forum.    obviously KL not only has great ideas for educating our young, but is a great businessman, which obviously in this field is rare.
and i think $150 for all the stuff/information you get is a good deal.  with that being said, i'm not allowed to buy any more flashcards, education materials for 6 months!
maybe instead of asking for a discount on the product you might ask for free access to the internet parent classes?  he might go for that first, then offer the discount for the other stuff.

What do you get for the $150?

I actually spoke with him a while ago, the 150$ I believe is for a reading and math kit. If your child is reading well you only would want the math kit for 90 something dollars. I haven't made up my mind yet though. He gave me his number to call with questions or to discuss early childhood education topics, sos I would need to speak with him further before I could make up my mind on the utility of the earliest program.

I shot over an email a few hours ago to Chris whom I have been in contact with this week. I will wait at least a day or so to give him a chance to think about options and reply. It was a very  simple email, basically stating that there are a bunch of us interested in potentially buying the programs and we'd like to talk about a small group discount, so call me and let's talk.

Will keep you all posted. I was hoping for a % off, but attending the online classes free of charge is a good negotiating tool too! Great idea.

Oh, and a "homemade" vibe doesn't both me....it's the results I'm after! And the joy of learning too. But seriously, KL taught Felicity with a homemade little reader prototype, just because it's simple or not the flashiest thing on the planet doesn't make it ineffective.

While I am waiting to hear back from JG, what I need from you is:

• PM me your email address for the rep to contact you if/when a deal is worked out. You don't have to send any personally identifying information to me but a list of emails would be helpful.
• Also, specify which program in particular you are considering. I am assuming more want the early learning reading/math kit but I would like to know for sure to make a list to relay to him
• Lastly, what questions do you have? I can ask over email and post the answers here so we can get a more detailed idea of what we are potentially buying into.

Is it possible to buy just the math stuff?  My boy can already read pretty well.

What does a typical day/lesson with JG math (or reading) look like? 

I did notice,  DadDude, that http://www.jonesgeniuses.com/  gives a few options for math.  The early math only seems to come with the reading, but if they know their numbers and some concept of addition and subratction, it looks like you can use Math 3.  But I'm not sure it will work with younger children because, as you said, I cannot see what the curriculum looks like.
