Thanks, JoyB! I am thrilled to hear that the MemoFlix and MonkiSee are well received in your home.
Maquenzie - Since you asked, MemoFlix DVDs play like flash cards . They teach babies and young children to read and identify thousands of words and objects. There are currently 4 volumes of MemoFlix and each volume has lots of categories to choose from. You choose a category to play and it shows the word, followed by a picture and a sound effect when applicable.
Volume 1 focuses on sight reading so the categories are such as actions, animals, colors, numbers and more.
Volume 2 teaches whole word phonics and has one category for each letter of the alphabet. So for the letter B, it teaches the name and sound of the letter and then is followed by 10 words and pictures that start with that sound.
Volume 3 again uses phonics to teach consonant blends such as cl, br and sl. Each sound is a category, the sound is taught and then 10 words and pictures for that sound.
Volume 4 teaches phonics using whole words to learn word families such as at, eck, and ur. It follows the same pattern as mentioned above, 10 words with pictures are taught for each sound.
In all there are 4 dvds of Memoflix and over 160 categories combined. It also includes a video Guide to Teaching Babies to Read which is an in depth look at how you can teach you baby to read in an easy, joyful and effective way. You can view the products at
