New Product from YBCR

We received our YCCD set today.  There was no information about the games.  It must just b e a bonus when you buy directly from them since it is $20 more with YBCR.  I can see what Christine Suarez was saying.  Those are some strange shapes in that book.  I wonder if they can really be right and even if they are, why teach such uncommon shapes and not the commonly known ones?  There stuff is all made in China, maybe it was a mistake?  Who knows.

It is a box that has 6 books and 3 dvd/cd cases.  The 2 dvd cases each have 3 dvds, one set is for babies and one set for children.  The other case is the music cd. We haven't watched them yet.  HOpefully in a few minutes we will watch one.  The books are a little disappointing to me because they are really for younger children than my 4 year old, except the preposition one, maybe.  The concepts are nice and they teach a lot of names for colors, so I like that.  Not fair to judge yet as I only scanned them as I opened the box.  If anyone gets the link for the games maybe they can let us know if there is anything exciting there.

I think they are good for anything except the really high end strollers and car seats specifically excluded on the coupon.

I think my son is a little too young for this product.
He just wants to chew on the books.  I have more success to keep his attention from grabbing the book from me when I am reading him an actual story.
The music cd is something I would want him to use when he is much older or atleast has a trained coach teaching him. 
I have no training in singing and do not know if I can trust a cd to teach him proper techniques needed.
If anyone has any experience with teaching their child to sing thru cds or dvds I would love to hear about your experience and opinions.
He does not pay attention to the dvds at all.  Which is okay because I try to limit his time watching screens to 30 mins or less a day. But I do make an exception and do not count the time he is looking at BrillKids programs
Overall I am happy with the quality of the product and I have something to look forward to sharing with my son in the future

So my son is 3 1/2 and is loving the YCCD set for older kids. He thinks the bookworm is hilarious. I love how they do counting, and not just 1-10 like most DVD's. I've seen them go all the way up to 2,000, they didn't go over every single number, they counted by 100's, etc. Also the music part is great. At one point the bookworm is singing the wrong notes and it really made my son laugh. i can easily see how we can take the music book and read-a-long CD and use the actual piano to play the notes along with it. The DVD also does math concepts like adding, subtracting, i even heard it say something about a percentage but I missed what it was for. It also uses a few written words, but not too many. I must say it's a little refreshing not just doing words, and really is focused on teaching other concepts. anyway - that's my first impression from the first DVD we've seen. We ordered directly from YCCD and did get a card with a code to do the online games but haven't checked it out yet.

LDSMom- have you had a chance to check out the online games? If so, is it worth the price difference or not? The price has gone up on the TRU site, and to make it worthwhile you need a 20% off coupon really. Sign up for the TRU rewards program and they mail them out quite frequently.

I read this on YBCR's facebook page today

And I found out if you order directly from the your child discovers site, if you select three "easy payments," on the next page they offer the 6 sliding books free if you opt to change your mind and pay in full.

I don't really think the online games are worth the extra $, I'm not sure i'd even call them games, they are basically printable workbook sheets that you can work on with your child. They cover topics like shapes, colors, numbers, music, patterns, opposites. I'll be saving my printer ink and continue to use the workbooks we have. I thought they'd be more interactive games that you could play online.

Wish I'd known about the 3 payments/offer for books. I paid in full. Oh well!

I should also note that my child still loves the YCCD DVD. He can't get enough of it. I've never seen him this attached to a movie.  We are having a problem with two of the DVD's not being able to read in two of our dvd players, it will only work in our car dvd player so i'm going to contact them to see if we can get a replacement sent out.  By far the best set we have though. My son will now go sit at the piano and try to play a "scale" and he's constantly trying to sing the notes.
