Do you speak Spanish yourself? My daughter also started to read English at age 2, she is now almost 4 and can read about a grade 3 level in English. I started teaching her Spanish about 2 years ago. Here is what I have tried and my thoughts on each:
LR Spanish files. Since we already owned LR it was easy to download all the Spanish files we could. Both my daughter and I learn the most from these files. All the basic words are there and some advanced stuff as well. I do wish there was more, or a LR Spanish but what is there is good. The price of LR has been worth it, for reading, Spanish, and we also use it for EK.
Little Pim - Too fast and too advanced for me to learn. My daughter likes Little Pim, but will only watch for about 3 minutes at a time and doesn't seemed to have learnt anything from it. It is full immersion. We have tried to use the flashcards from the set, but they are small and it is struggle to get my daughter to look at them. The CD is great and we listen to it all the time in the truck. This set (3 DVDs, 1 CD, and 1 package of flashcards) cost me over $150 Canadian plus shipping and I don't think it was worth the money.
I have the Your Baby Can Read Spanish Kit for $29. It incluced 2 DVD, 2 CDs, and a lyric book. The DVDs and CDs are a set. The one set is about 20 songs, the DVDs are reasonable well done with the words in English and Spanish on the screen. My daughter loves to watch the DVD, but only about 4-5 songs at a time, all 20 songs are a bit much. On the way to the beach one day she said "Me gusta La Playa", which I believe she learned from the DVD. The matching CD contains the exact same songs and we listen to it all the time in the truck. We also read the lyric book which contains the words in English and Spanish for all these songs. I have learned a few phrases and words from these. The second DVD/CD set is sets of individual words, such as 10 fruits, 10 modes of transportation, 10 actions, etc. The CD is impossible to figure out because it is all in Spanish... and we just don't know enough. The DVD is very very slow and my daughter refuses to watch it. This set cost me about $35 Canadian plus shipping. We only use the one set, but it was worth the money
I purchased a Three Sister Intro to Spanish Set that included 2 CDs and 4 small books. The 4 small books are English/Spanish and we do like to read them, but not all the time. My daughter and I have both learned a few words from the books. The one DVD is pure spanish conversation which is far too advanced for us, we don't listen to it. The other CD is children songs, which we love, but I can't figure out the songs. The beats are catching, but I don't think we are learning anything from them. The set cost me $25 and has been worth it.
www.onlinefreespanish.com - Is a wonderful website. The price is right - Free. It has English instructions to learn the Spanish so my daughter is able to read it herself. A lot of the lessons seem to be aimed for younger kids and my daughter will spend hours at a time on this site. I have to drag her away from it. She has learned a lot this way, and it has also helped solidify what she has learned elsewhere. I say her Spanish Words have doubled since using this website. So it took us 2 years to learn about 100 Spanish words, and about 2 months of online free Spanish to get to about 200 Spanish words - and it is increasing every day. The one downfall of the website is it is really busy and there is lots of potential to click on outside websites, but I guess that is the price of free.
I think I have tried a few other Spanish resources in the last 2 years but those are the main ones. I would love to try Boca Beth, but it just isn't in the budget right now. Hope my 2 cents helps you out. Honest, if I was to start again, I might just leave it at
