Baby Babble DVD?

Hello! My son is nearly 7 months and and does not babble. He will occasionally make "raspberry" noise, like  and make a cooing noise if he's crawling. He stopped babbling after 3 months. I don't know why. I talk to him constantly and always talk to him about his surroundings. I was considering buying some speech enhancement dvds or programs to help him out. Has anyone tried the dvd Baby Babble? Would you recommend it? Any other advice would be appreciated

Wow!! That's amazing--your story sounds just like mine.

My son had normal speech patterns until he stopped babbling (and was just listless) after his 4 month vaccinations. He continued to be a quiet child afterwards.

We did buy Baby Babble--it's cute, but it never made my son babble. It's poor quality and doesn't really teach anything (maybe 3 signs total). But it's worth a try, I suppose.

We also did 1 year of speech therapy through Early Childhood Intervention--it's FREE if you're in the US and your son is at least 3 months behind in some skill.

Now, he's 2.5 years and he can sing full songs, count to 20, tell us stories...so don't worry!!

I dont think you need to worry. You are doing the right thing by communicating. Keep doing it consistently and your son will respond. Your son is too small he just 6.5 months. He will eventually respond and start talking. My daughter did the same.

Ask yourself, if he understand what you say, You could tell it when
he looks at you or giggles or smiles or
he responds by babbling or
he looks at toy or picture you have been teaching him with exitement.
There are so many ways babies can communicate non verbally.

I think you should'nt worry, also when you take your son for immunization, if the doctor has told you not to worry, then you shouldnt.

Apart from the above, if you still want to focus on early child reading or brain developement, you could read books on Glenn Doman programs and also work with the BrillKids Maths and Reader software. Also I used the "Baby Bumblee DVD" to teach my child

texaslady22, my son stopped after his vaccines too! I thought maybe it was just a weird coincidence. I had told the doctor about my son babbling to stuffed animals. It's like every time you tell someone something your kid learned, your kid stops doing it! 
You mentioned Early Childhood Intervention? I am from Texas myself, do you know of one in the DFW area? My son isn't really behind on any milestones but you never know if you'll need to go in the future. His dad didn't talk until he was 3.

I've read on amazon that the video is of poor quality, but I am still interested. Can anyone else add their opinion?

I didn't have this problem with my son but my friend did. Her son is 2 now and still has some problems. She has taught him sign language and he uses it pretty well and now that he has just turned 2 he is saying the word and using the sign. He has a small vocabulary for his age but is able to communicate through sign language.

I have Baby Babble 1 and 2, and although I personally dont find them educational or entertaining, so I dont use them often, my baby finds them fascinating and actually will watch them.  But I dont think they need to watch these to learn to talk!!
