I am really excited to write this review today. I have been using the Kids Start Spanish Program with my 5 and 8 year old for the last few months. It is a very well designed program that teaches Spanish through immersion. The most exciting part for me is that my daughter, who was having trouble rolling her r's, has finally gotten it! That is a big deal around here. We are thrilled.
The program comes with 4 DVDs, a music CD, a matching game, 4 sets of really nice flash cards, and a book. I think our favorite part of the program is the flash cards and the matching game. We do really like the dvds, but since we don't watch much television, it was a bit more of an effort to put them on. Once I did, my kids loved them. They especially like the La Cucaracha song. For some reason, they would get really hyper while watching these and be bouncing all around. That was fine with me. We have watched all of the videos many times, but we have not learned every sentence being spoken. This is fine with me because it inspires us to watch them more and fully understand all that is being said and be able to speak it.
Of course, matching games are always a hit. My three kids would sit down and play for 30-45 minutes at a time. I love teaching with flash cards and since I left them out, I was very consistent with showing them the cards. Another great part of Kids Start Spanish is that the children learn to speak and read Spanish. I love that.
