Sparkabilities?

I am just wondering if anyone has use the Sparkabilities DVDs for their babies?  I had a customer call me the other day and she said she loves them and wanted me to look into them.  I was curious to hear any feedback.

I personally think that there are better videos on the market. I'm not that impressed with it.

The few second samples aren't really enough for me to evaluate it. It looks ok, but I wouldn't show it to a child over 18 months. Well, not my child, at least. He has watched enough videos that those would be baby-ish.

And the fact that they are supposedly endorsed by celebrities makes me less interested.

I agree with nhockaday. If you compare the rich content of the TweedleWink DVD's vs Sparkabilities, I believe it is missing a lot of stimulating content.

The Sparkabilities series is very different from what is currently on the market.  They are based on the brain science of the PlayWisely method and are specifically designed for developmental stages.  So, yes, the Babies 2 DVD might be a little baby-ish for an 18 month old.  Sparkabilities isn't designed to "teach" but rather to help establish the neural foundation for later learning.  You can learn more about PlayWisely @ www.playwisely.com.   We have a Toddler DVD coming out within the next couple of weeks as well as an iPhone app based on the Babies 2 DVD coming out soon.  The app has segments of the DVD along with flashcards that the child and parent can interact with.

Thank you for the longer sample, Janal. I think it would be good for a baby, and I would buy it if I had one. I am looking forward to seeing the toddler DVD. What will it contain?

Thanks for your interest and kind comments!  The Toddler DVD has so much new material including introductions to geometry, numeration, fractions, letters, letter sounds and so much more.  The Sparkabilities website will be updated within the next week or two with a sample of the Toddler DVD and I'll also be posting it to YouTube.  You can sign up for our activity of the week and you will definitely be notified when the samples are available.

I found out about Sparkabilities by reading this thread and after watching the YT clips with my 15 month old daughter I decided to purchase the Toddler 1 DVD. It is a wonderful DVD and she absolutely LOVES, LOVES it. She calls it "Sparkee" and asks for it everyday. It's been a little over two weeks and I didn't realize how much she was learning from it until she started recognizing shapes. She randomly pointed out a heart on my shirt a few days ago and then a star in a magazine yesterday so we showed her a few other shapes and she knew ALL of them. I just can't say enough about this DVD.

I have the same DVD and it is great.  It is very fast paced and keeps the kids attention.  I really like this DVD as well.

can someone explain more about the program?  are there activities we should do with the video?  is it just pure entertainment?  i went to the website and am not sure how this program is better, than say, TW?  i think we all know about the benefits of educating young babies/children... but will this really help?  it seems a bit underwhelming.

I've checked out their web site, the DVDs really seem like fun  and $19.95 per DVD is a reasonable price!
I think I  will be getting one , I will post my review here.

What age is it for? Which is the minimun age we can sit our baby in front of a TV?

The Sparkabilities Babies 1 DVD starts at 4 months.  It's designed for 4-8 months specifically but can be used longer.   An iPad and iPhone app are also expected out soon for Babies 1!  It's in Apple's hands right now.
