Talk to me about laminating machines

I have been considering getting a cheap one, but I am not sure if I would use it enough. What all do you use your laminator for?

I also haven't been able to find out what the difference is between a hot and cold laminator. Can anyone help me out?

P.S.  I have a cannon ink jet printer and a $30 scotch heat laminatior and have no problems with heat sensitivity when laminating things from the printer.  I have noticed that sometimes, if I am laminating lots of stuff fast, that I need to pause to wait for the laminator to heat up again.  Maybe it runs on the cold side and that's why they work together.  I also imagine there are lots of other people in this forum that use hot lamination with ink jet printers and I have never heard anyone else having issues.

I do everything the cheap, tedious way. a roll of duck brand laminate, 12 inches long, pretty think for about $5.50 at walmart. Get the green one, not the blue. http://www.staples.com/Duck-Clear-Laminate-18-x-8-Yards/product_825000

We have a 12yo hot laminating machine that my husband had before we got married and I love it!!!  I have used it for so many things - flashcards, learning games, math manipulatives. With 4 little ones, it really helps reduce my stress!  Highly recommended!
