If this book has already been discussed on this forum I apologize in advance for reposting but I am in the beginning of chapter 1 and had to take a moment to share. This is a guide to right brain/left brain education. But there is much more emphasis on right brain techniques since that is what is lacking in the school systems. So far in the preface she has helped me further understand how each side of our brain views, interprets and understands information. She even gives an insightful analogy of the left hemisphere represented by a digital computer vs. the right hemisphere represented by a kaleidoscope. She has explained how the schools have mostly been nurturing the left side through reading and writing instead of using manuplitative materials that will develop spatial thinking. Students who excel may have trouble later on in higher math levels that require spatial and conceptual thinking.
This book contains
"specific classroom activities employing visual thinking, fantasy, metaphor, multisensory learning, music, laboratory experiments and field trips suitable for elementary through high school level. The techniques in this book deal with how material is taught, not what is taught". So we can fill in the blanks...
Who knows as I read on I may realize this is just a review of what I have already learned from the many wonderful forum members here... But it's always nice to have a handbook for right brain learning techniques.
