What is your favorite EL gift for your little learner?

Ok, so now that the company has gone and we have had time to play with "our" toys I thought I would share our favorite item. It was a last minute purchase, so I was surprised that it is our favorite.

We have had so much fun ordering sandwiches and sorting the items. This is great for role play, giving and taking directions, nutrition discussions and more I have not thought of yet.

Snap circuits is a long time favorite of my older son. Maybe starting around early 4's or late 3's with assistance. He is now 6.5 and still plays with it almost daily. He has the advanced set, the rover, the electromagnetic add on. He is constantly making small machines and projects with the parts. Both of my boys (3 and 6) are lego fanatics, but they also like duplos, train sets and lincoln logs.

Oh yes my old son got tasty science and magic science last year and liked them so much we got him a full on chemistry set this year. He has been working through the experiment guide and loves it.

I just got my son snap circuits and he loves them. I need to do them with him now but he totally can do it and loves it at 4. I also got him mag blocks, a techno building set and a design drill. I got my oldest dd some pattern blocks and my youngest dd a set that she snaps in by color. Another good gift is the kumon maze book. It is a good way to work on writing skills that doesn't feel like writing. In the Christmas thread some one mention light bright and I might try that soon because it is a good way to work on fine motor skills and the pencil grip. My kids don't get a lot of videos so I got them the Peter Wetherall dvds and the Magic School Bus dvd set that was really discounted on amazon. I also got the Sound of the World audio cd for listening in the car.

The rest of the toys were just imaginative toys not EL. I think they got a good balance this Christmas. I'm lucky in that relative send me gifts cards or ask what my kids want.

Linzy i have a question about daily language review , i like to give it a try with my six years old , she is fluent reader , doing fll2 aas 3 , do you think i should start from grade 1 and move quickly or skip levels , how can i know what level is right for her ??
