I just bought Tweedlewink a few months ago from a fellow brillkids mommy. With our resent sudden move i wasn't able to watch it till recently. To be honest I did not expect my son (4.5) to even enjoy it, I thought after watching the previews online it would bore him. But I bought it anyhow because she was letting it go for a good price and I thought I could use it for either my dayhome or with future kids. Well I was wrong. My son loves it. He is almost hypnotized by it.
I'm going to have to go on the site and figure out how often to show it and how long 1-6 should last us, hopefully it will last till atleast June then maybe I'll buy him the other videos for his birthday.
One question I have is that when I watch it I feel sick. Also car sick. It doesn't bug my son, but it sure bugs me. Why is that?

Wow, that's strange. I have never had a sick feeling. Is it for any video? Or only certain ones or certain segments?

Its through out the whole video. I thought it was just the lighting in the livingroom so this morning I tried to watch it with him again in full daylight and again I had to stop watching because it hurt my eyes and maybe me lind of sick

Really strange but i felt that way too. I was really excited about it and bought ALL their dvds. But after trying it out, i felt quesy and yes, car sick. Maybe it was the 'I am beautiful', or the background sounds, not sure. It just gave me a strange vibe and showed my baby a couple of times and she seemed to be liking it but i was not comfortable so i stopped. Instead, i just showed her YBCR and she loved it and can read so many words now and loves reading all types of books too. I hope to start LR/LM next week!

She also started attending a french crech from 8 to 1pm, Mond to friday since january and sings french songs, sayes bonjourrrrrr!! and clearly understands some french when spoken to by her french school caretakes/nanny.

So, all in all tweedlwink, not for us, YBCR, french crech and part time flashcards and lots of fun at other times hope you found stuff that worked for both of you, you and your baby, as its a team effort!

Are you concerned about your son at all? Maybe show him half a session.. if he does not feel sick, increase the time..
Have you tried the Wink series? (for older children)

I literally got the delivery of all 10 DVDs today and now I am getting worried after reading this string... am sure everything will be fine though.. Cant wait to get back home and start her on the DVDs... My daughter by the way has started reading HINDI which is an entirely different script... kudos to Glenn Doman, Pamela and Dr. Schichida to encourage early learning and right brain education. but most importantly, KL, if you're seeing this - thanks to you

Hey guys.
Thanks for your replies. I will PM rbkids tonight. As for my son I'm not to concerned he is almost obsessed with the series. When I ask him if he feels sick he replies no. He just wants to keep watching "counting fish" . I'm really sensitive to lights and stuff like that an I get migraines easy. Maybe that's it?

Just thought I'd share an PM that rbkids sent me about my reaction. Its such a great program, even though i can't watch it, my son loves it. He's what rbkids wrote
Hello, Monique.  Thank you for your e-mail.  We're so happy that your son loves the lessons.

As for your reaction, while it is the first time we've heard this type of reaction from our flashcard DVDs, we have seen it in live lessons with actual cards--when given at a much faster pace.  When the flashing is about than 3-4 images per second, those with a predisposition toward epilepsy will react.  That faster pace can induce seizures, nausea or erratic behavior in children.  That is why our cards are paced at 1 second per card.  It is considered "safe" by pediatric neurologists.  When the DVDs are playing, you may be selective about how much you watch, if at all.  If your son has the same reaction, he would turn away and show you discomfort--so please look for that.  The blinking is normal and does happen--it is different from child to child--with cards and DVDs.  It seems to be a way that some children process the incoming images.

The best pace for incoming images for you, as mother, is those which match the beat of your heart.  You need to nurture your own system and be careful of not stressing yourself.  Take your hand and feel the beat of your heart.  You can time it, or simply feel it and then watch the DVD.  If the DVD is faster than your heartbeat, then it is considered to be "overstimulating" for you.  It really best for you not to view it in this case.  At least not in a focused way.  Children's hearts beat much faster than ours. One second is considered gentle.

In the end, you should always trust your own instincts.  Honor your reactions and be the protector of your child's heart and mind. :-)  This should always be a program that comforts and safely nurtures the body system.  Everything is based on love.
