pimsleur?

Just looking to buy the pimsleur cds to learn spanish. Has anyone used these to learn a language? and how well did you find they worked?

I would like feedback from anyone who has used them and how long it took to learn the language. Also how many people who used them were not bilingual?

I listened to these once, but I really found them helpful. I have been attempting to learn Spanish forever and they teach you the correct pronunciation of the words, which is really helpful. I realized that I was saying some words like an American speaking Spanish. I just haven't made the time to continue on.

I absolutely love the Pimsleur cds for adults and for babies (little Pim).

I started learning French with the Pimsleur cds. It's very satisfying because you learn fast and you start speaking the way the French do immediately and that is so much fun.

You just listen to each lesson once a day (takes 30 minutes/day). In the car or right before you go to bed is best. You'll learn best if you do as they suggest and don't use a grammar workbook or dictionary. If you do then you will be tempted to pronounce it as you read it in your native tongue instead of the proper way. They also suggest that you only listen to each lesson once and then move on to the next lesson the next day but I did better by listening twice or taking two days on each lesson.

My baby loves Little Pim too.

I just got their mandarin CD. I listened to it for a little bit and it sounds that is a great method. I got it so we can play it for our baby before she goes to bed. I'm also planning in getting the mandarin little pim. So, to answer your questions so far I think it was worth it.

Now, as a native spanish speaker I can say that with spanish may be a little bit easier to learn because the phonetics are always the same, so if you decide to use dictionary may not be as bad. Just a thought.

Can't say for the adult materials, but we have the Mandarin Little Pim, and both I and my son really enjoyed the 3 dvds and got a lot out of them. It is very good to learn with just the Mandarin (no English) and understanding through gradual building of words to phrases to sentences with just the images.
