infact, it's the Science DVds and sond Cds that are my favourite. I'm learning stuff. Cant get the star song out of my head....
"Stars are a nuclear explosion, making Helium out of Hydrogen gas And as a result of this fusion, you get alot of energy from a little mass"
Beats Twinkle Twinkle Little Star any day. (we sing this at playgroup every week). No more wondering what they are..now you can actually KNOW! And our babies can know. My older kids have been memorising the song, which has several verses, plus the catchy chorus I quoted.
eg...Stars form into galaxies bound by the force of gravity and the star we call the sun, is situated on the edge of one.
Also discusses E=mc squared.
bubby finds this interesting.

That's funny, because I actually said that to him! In fact his wife is his illustrator for his videos/ TV show. She's Japanese... you need a Japanese translator. I kept saying check this site out (here's the address, click here, I'll get points!). His talent's as a teacher of English in Japan were not recognised apparently...he did his ideas, that was too radical, so they told him to stick to the curriculum. You never know, they might log in.

Anyone want to buy the VHS bilingual baby's I want, list them on ebay at an appointed time as "Buy-it now" with a bit of a profit margin, for me to buy via paypal immediately...
Ridiculous the lenghts I have to go to to get bi Lingual Baby (I want all except swedish and Portuguese). and Talking Hands, Left Brain, And First Impressions Letters. (I have mananged to get most everything else, via ebay, before ANY Representative of brainy baby from ANY country got back to me. (which cost me a lot more). International standard Flat rate shipping is cheapest.
Thanks!! (if anyone can help!!)

Actually it is more expensive to buy Brainy baby products from ebay... I put off buying from ebay for a long time, but when all other avenues seemed to be exhausted, I started buying. The Aussie sellers dont have what I'm looking for, that is Bilingual Baby, and the US sellers on Ebay and Amazon are charging through the roof...I know what a VHS tape costs on brainy baby, and I know what they are being sold for. Not to mention, the postage they charge PER item to Australia is about $13... no discounts for multiple items etc. That's why I'm so upset. it's the bad manners, it's the inconvenience of having to check my emails every morning to see if she's written back, of not being able to change my provider (I'm on broadband now, but have to keep my dial-up provider so I can check my emails on the email address they last wrote to me on), of having to fix my computers which have been having problems, basically because I want those Bilingual baby Dvds... plusd I'm keeping that money aside, and should have just paid for the order she first calculated had I known she'd never get back to me. Bilingual Baby Hebrew...someone on Amazon is selling for $160. If anyone decides to go off and buy from brainy baby, mention that Nicole from australia is still wanting to pay for her order from a month ago. Is there a US Office of Fair trading/Consumer affairs I can report this to? Because it's really bad treatment, particularly as I've been praising the product to everyone. As for Tweedlewink, I have them and babybit, and the service was swift and fast. I'm having difficulty emailing Baby Chatterbox, but they dont have the sale on, and it's annoying me that all these people who are just out to buy up, resell and make a profit, are probably buying items from the order she is supposed to have put aside for me, who isnt planning to resell but use it properly, for it's designated purpose. There's my hissy-fit for the day. all this having to fix computers all day, upgrading etc, is taking up so much of my time it's bringing back my post-natal depression this week....too much to do, not enough hours, demanding baby who doesnt want to sleep or be left alone, 3 other kids to look after, hours searching for Bilingual on the net but refusing to pay those prices when i have brainy Baby's word they will sell to me and have an order put aside...trying to make flashcards, research how to do powerpoint presentations yada yada... >

> Not impressed. Hopping mad actually. have had no end of run-around trying to buy Brainy baby DVDs, and finally i told them if they dont reply i'd mention them on here, to warn you all. no reply. Months ago, i tried to purchase off the Brainy Baby site, but wasnt able to complete the transaction, being NOT in America (is that discrimination??). I had to contact an australian retailer they listed, who never responded. So I tried to notify them of this to no avail, then I wrote to the UK stockist, explaining the scenario...no reply. tried to purchase elsewhere, but didnt have much luck til recently. Tried the aussie retailer again, he finally replied and said he didnt have what i was looking for, and gave me another person's details, who replied after I finally made contact with brainy baby themselves. Brainy baby were very helpful (initially), and got my order together, and were recalculating a package for me minus some flashcards, on July the 10th. Since then, nothing!!! I have emailed a few times, but no reply. I cant even buy off the Aussie woman, as I cant seem to download a catalog off her site. She didnt have what i wanted at that time. Not happy!!! On the other hand, the Baby Chatterbox series seems good....and I'm borrowing baby blinks from the library..will let you know.

babybit is of more interest to Azaria who is 8 months as she prefers words and big clear pictures. With Tweedle wink I considered buying a huge TV screen because many of the images are small, not even half the screen. I havent been able to look at all the DVDs as I've lost my remote control, but it does seem that you are correct, Tweedlewink has all the music, encyclopaedic knowledge etc, but personally I think for the price they should have crammed a few more hours into the DVDs... 4 lessons per DVD isnt much at 8 minutes a lesson... As Azaria is very into words being flashed she loses concentration with Tweedlewink and turns her head away when they just flash pictures like the inside of a plant cell. They say the words, like golgi apparatus but dont show the written word...this bores her. WHY NOT??? To get Spanish on Babybit you have to buy the Spanish DVD separately...it's the exact same stuff, just spanish words and voiceovers. I found a great product though, it's not flashcards, it's more entertaining but yet very educational....we have it on TV over here...I just ordered all the DVDs last night...very cheap prices too...you can see clips etc... www.kidsinglish.com (it's actually a New Zealand production... if you think the Aussie accent is bad...theirs might possibly be worse. Fish and chips is Fush and chups! And you really dont want to know how the number six is pronounced. With an E ! But nothing wrong with the English accent (nothing beats the Queen's English which is used in British kids DVDs)... if anyone has the right to speak English, it's the English. We Aussies try to spell like the English, so I have this problem with US DVDs, I have to correct the spelling of colour.) you could ask the Babybit guy if he puts art, science etc into his reading words...I'd let you know when I find my remote..

i will state that this holds true from my experience... once in, always there. It's not use it or lose it, but if not kept going and built on, unless the child was brought up like me, with nothing else to do but look at books and magazines (no TV where I grew up), they may not have an interest in learning to read by themselves. I found that with my son, and it may be true in general for boys more than girls, but with so many other things to do like playstation, Tv shows etc, unless they are only allowed educational items, they get pulled away from reading. Yes, they were spelling words at 12 months, latest. Each child is different, and compared to the others Azaria is behind in crawling, pulling up on the furniture etc. They were early in physical development..maybe there is a corelation there? (crawled fully at 6 months, walking around furniture at 7 months, walking at 10 months (11 months for my son). Azaria is physically less able. not complaining...it's easier on me that way!! I havent even asked Azaria what the flashcards mean yet... cant ask her to touch her foot, point etc like Alika Titzer at 9 months, cos she doesnt have the physical prowess. (though I tell her to give her dad a back rub and she knows what I mean without demonstration (anymore), and she does it! I'll check her out this week...I'll try "cat"...she's obsessed with them. Once kids go to school it's hard to teach them the way you'd want to. After school they are tired, and want to meet all their friends on Club Penguin. Beware the curse of Club penguin!

Back then I had an old Teach your baby to read book, which said to start at 1 year old with flashcards. The newer versions say much earlier!! So I started them all at between 10 months and a year, but wasnt very dedicated then... didnt have a laminator, didnt know I could buy flashcards anywhere, couldnt afford to buy heavy cardboard paper to make flashcards... But I did teach them basic words, and they learned them IMMEDIATELY. Within days they could spell the words out (as soon as I thought to try it). Their first words were the ones I listed before and dummy and nappy (aussie for pacifier and diaper), pussy, doggy, cot... I cant think of all of them. But due to circumstances (marriage breakdown and 3 little kids) I didnt really keep going with the flashcards. REGRETS, I've had a few.... Wish I'd stuck with it. Wish I'd homeschooled. I had all the right intentions, but my situation wasn't conducive to focussing solely on my children. I wasnt aware until a week ago that as a single mother I could still have homeschooled my older kids...and arent I MAD about that? !!! I'll be homeschooling Azaria for sure.

I will post some pics, when I get the laptop working. You wont believe my nursery...I turned the family room into a nursery..it's the biggest room in the house. And still there isnt enough room, enough walls to put posters up on! Dr seuss... I remember the ones I read as a kid...When I first bought them for my kids I had flashbacks to my childhood. They're really memorable. I want to buy the whole set of Dr seuss videos (2nd hand), to reinforce what I read to bubby. And also I'll buy the green eggs and Ham CDrom when she's older... for reinforcement. I actually phocopied a few pages out of that book and some others which I will laminate so she gets to see the words frequently, as I cant let her use papery books on her own yet...she'd tear them and eat them.
