This is very impressive what you have done with your kids musically!  I would like to also start my daughter on some music practice.  I was just wondering if there was anything special about the tuning forks that you used (from tweedlewinks, I believe?).  I have searched online for tuning forks and found some on ebay that were from a company in India for $29.99 and free shipping worldwide.  There were 8 in the set and they were from middle C up to high C.  Do you have any idea if they would be similar??? Definitely they are more affordable!!!  Right now, affordable is important

This is a wonderful idea!  Maybe my daughter is too young to understand geography yet, but I would save the cards and use them as she gets older.  This will be a great way to introduce  the subject to her and learn more myself

That was very interesting. Maybe the reason the test shows negative results from the computer/video learning was because the parent wasn't involved.  That is one great thing about LR/LM.  The parent has to be involved, even with the video learning.  I can understand not allowing children (of any age) to just sit in front of the TV, but there are so many good programs out there that allow children to learn.  A lot of adults watch TV just to unwind.  Maybe sometimes young kids want to unwind too!  Anyway, I find this topic interesting.  In our family, we don't watch television, mainly because we had to chose between internet service or television service for financial reasons.   I read often to my daughter, and she loves it.  She also loves the LR/LM and as learned from it in the very short time we have been doing it.  But she wouldn't do any of it if I wasn't right there with her.  Parental involvement must be the key, at least for her.  Maybe not with all kids. 

I have a question about a child's ability to subitize quantities.  If a baby learns how to subitize early on and then keeps practicing it, will they eventually lose that ability?  For example, if a toddler can subitize the quantity 88, so their parents use dot cards (or something similar) to teach addition.  88 dots + 92 dots = 180. If they continue practicing it until the child gets to school will the child still be able to subitize? 
Has anyone been doing this long enough to see their 10 year old still subitize?  Would someone lose the ability only if they quit practicing it?  I am new to this method of teaching math, and was just curious.
