we can't change the older generation, just bear in mind when we become grandparents next time,, to well, keep our opinion to ourselves.. if it is not appreciated. what if your children dont believe in early learning, maybe secretively do flash cards and flash at your grandchildren when no one is looking.. can't win an argument with mother in law.. i just keep quiet most of the time, maybe she thinks i am crazy to be doing flash cards and with spanish and so on, she just keep quiet, i do appreciate that. so.. ssshh... quiet.. is the best approach sometimes.

hm,,, how about follow the child? we've not travelled that long distance, furthest was just 4 hours flight, i brought her to children's play area at the airport and play, let her walk at the airport and do whatever she wants to do , as long as she wont hurt herself or disturb other people. let her play with the window shade of the aircraft, up and down , up and down.. she did for 20 minutes or so, then fasten and unfasten the seatbelt, but for that long hour flight you have, you might need to let her walk around the aircraft..

depends on how old your baby is.. with my 26 month old, i plan to let her watch 10 mins of spanish, 10 mins japanese, 10 minutes.. tweedle wink,, then 30 minutes of leap frog,, the rest of the time will be flash cards..if you do 1 sec per card,, and 2 x 15 minutes session of flash cards,, that's a lot..

do you change the tone of your voice when reading story.. like acting out the story.. as in bad witches,, bad voice, scared.. and whisper .. or.. help.. and a little shout.. help.. what kind of story do you read.. when he seems zone out.. maybe you can.. say beep beep till he look at you .. or wait for a while.. or just continue reading.. unless when he zone out a bit too long, then do something to attract his attention back.

i have just started recently on early learning, well, i had ybcr dvd earlier on before she turns 1 and some chinese dvd but that's about it. just started really making flash cards recently. i rather not let anyone know about it, like my daughter starting violin formal lesson at the age of 2. ppl are quick to 'advise' what you should and should not be doing, i rather not get into the argument and explain, why early learning is good and so on. i just keep things to myself and write on the blog and let it all out. it is just too tiring and not worth the time, to explain to irrelevant ppl why i do what i do.
