I've ordered several things through them: the Little Pim mandarin dvd set, the My First Chinese Words 36books+cd set, Baby Learns Chinese dvds, Mandy and pandy book/cd sets (btw I don't recommend books 3, 4 of those)... Childbook are great. They have good shipping rates, ship internationally (I am in Canada, they are US), and when a dvd I got was defective, they sent me a free replacement. Their customer service, read Ray who owns the site, is excellent. Quick replies to emails, quick to send out replacement dvds if there is an error in your order. I highly recommend them.

The site also features customer reviews (they give a $100 gift certificate to a random reviewer every month so you are really encouraged to go back and review what you have bought there) as well as comparative charts for various materials, and dvd video excerpts on site.

My son started with Baby Signing Time at 22 mos when he came home (adopted) from China. He just loves them, and now Signing Time. He picked up signs right away and it totally helped me differentiate between all his various maaa, mehh, muh, nuh, neh utterances. I could tell if he was trying to say Milk or Marc, No or Bus, and then I could say the right word correctly. So it was more me teaching him correct enunciation when I understood his signs, instead of a horrid frustrating guessing game of what the heck he might be trying to say.

Now he can speak pretty well, but he can use ASL to speak with deaf people, and also I use it as a transitional tool when teaching him French (we live in Quebec). I'll speak in French, (or Chinese which we are trying to keep up with him) and sign words he doesn't know at the same time I say them, so he understands the word I am saying means milk or shoe (without having to translate into English). And signing is GREAT for communicating with your child when they are a little ways away, without shouting, or during an adult conversation, music concert, theater piece, super noisy place etc.

Anyways, now he knows most or all of the signs from the dvds, but asks to watch them regularly cuz he loves them for entertainment, with all the Signingtime Songs... and requests that I sing the songs while walking with the stroller or in the car. So you can't really go wrong!

Hi, I just joined up tonight!

My son was adopted from china at 22 mos old, and of course spoke no English. We had a couple Baby Einstein dvds someone gave as a gift. He was not interested at ALL, and watching just one put me to sleep. I got rid of them.

We DO love baby signing time and signing time http://signingtime.com dvds. He can't get enough of them. They say the words VERY CLEARLY in English, along with the sign and an image, and then have children saying the word over and over while signing and showing the item or action. My son was understanding the english words in no time. He took a long time to speak intelligibly, and the signing itself was a great transitional communication device. Our speech therapist said it was a very good tool.
Also, here in Quebec, they speak both English and French, so he had two new languages to learn. I found that I could use the sign he knew (ie shoes) and then say the french word, while signing shoes, and he would understand the spoken french from the sign.

He learned all his colors from Signing Time dvds, lots of names of animals etc. He doesn’t sign hardly at all now at 3, but understands it well, and still watches the dvds all the time (we have all the first series, a few of the second series, and the Baby Signing Times which he loves as they have more songs).

Right now we are using Dora the Explorer in Mandarin to learn Chinese (me along with him)... so dvds can be an excellent addition to speaking with real people (we also have a native mandarin speaker come into our home once a week).
