Thanks Nhockaday and Leanna for all your suggestions.  It would seem that the body parts category is very much in demand, which is why I'll upload a category for that straightaway.

Nhockaday is right - to get the best images for your categories, try as much as possible to grab those with very good screen resolution. (Near or above 480x640 usually does the trick.)  Plus I think you may all be pleased that our release of a build with the image editor may be coming soon, and that feature will help you all customize your pictures and get them sharper for your playback.

And to make your recorded pronunciations sound clearer, I recommend trying these steps: (Before recording)
1.  In your computer, go to START MENU - CONTROL PANEL.
2.  Press SOUNDS AND AUDIO DEVICES.
3.  Highlight the tab entitled VOICE.  In the Voice Recording area, press VOLUME.
4.  You will now see a pop up dialogue box that will enable you to check your recording settings.  Make sure your recording level is high.

There, I think that quite does the trick.    I hope that helps.

That's right Rebekah, I'm glad you noticed the difference in installing between the two Operating Systems!

.NET is needed for everyone who is running on Windows XP or lower, while Vista already has .NET pre-installed when it was developed.

I totally agree with Leanna, and I'm glad that phonics are getting some attention from Little Reader fans! 

From the get-go of the development we have been mulling over the creation of phonics and diphthongs sets - because these language elements will be important to our little learners.  And yes, with Little Reader the possibilities for learning ARE endless, and we can eventually branch out in creating highly specialized sets to cater to students with different skills and learning requirements.

I am personally very excited to have received your professional opinion as I am sure everyone will benefit from your insight!  :tongue2:  Maybe we can ask your help someday when we go down this route, and you can have a hand in making the programs better!

Okay, so you've exported your playlist or category and you want to share it with the whole world!  Here's how to do it:

A reminder - when you export the file - make sure you click on exporting all the media components (that "include media files on the left part of the export screen) so you'll be sure to pack all of your goodies in your exported category!

Your exported file is still in your PC though - You can find it by following this map 

  MY DOCUMENTS
                    L BRILLKIDS
                                   L LITTLE READER
                                                         L IMPORT-EXPORT

All of your exported Little Reader Playlists and Categories will be there by default.

And here's how to share them with us:

1.  Go to the Forums
2.  Click on File Downloads
3.  Click on Little Reader Library Files
4.  At the bottom of the list, click on ADD A DOWNLOAD.

Here's a few tips on "uploading" or adding a download:
 - For the Title, make sure you specify if its a playlist or a category. 
          ex. Category - Body Parts
 - For Description, please enumerate the words you included in your set.
          ex. .CAT file contains images, pronunciation files and sound effects, and video for the following words:
                    - head
                    - legs
                    - arms
 - For keywords, just leave it blank.  I'll edit and approve all downloads and I will put in keywords that will help other people who may be looking for the words you made get to your download file.

5. Click on BROWSE.  Look for your exported category or playlist in your computer (refer to the map above) and click OK.

6. After all that click on ADD DOWNLOAD.

Your download will begin shortly after.    Don't worry if it seems like the page isn't changing for a few seconds to a minute - it just means that the uploading is taking a while, so don't stop or refresh your browser.  When the uploading is done, the page will automatically change itself and you will see a screen that shows you your upload history (all the files you've ever uploaded).

[ADD a Category]

Hi Anushyam!

I'm very happy to know you're going to be creating new category files!  You're one step ahead of me, as I am currently in the process of making the HOW TO tutorials for Little Reader!

Let me just enumerate the steps for you:


ADD a Category
From the Word Library Menu, choose to display CATEGORY. 
Click on NEW, type the name of your new category ("Kitchen"), then press the ENTER on your keyboard.

ADD a word to a Category
From the Word Library Menu, highlight the category you want to add a word to.
On the File column click on NEW.
This will open the New Word Menu.

First, type in a filename - they must begin with a letter and can contain numbers. You can't include spaces - but you can use the underscore character to separate words. (ex. kitchen_stove)
Next, write down the word as you want it to appear on the playback on the word blank space.

To add pronunciation - In the pronunciation section, click on +NEW.  Locate the recording file on your computer.  Press open.
To add picture - To add the picture for brother, Click on NEW. Look for your chosen image in your computer, and select OK to add it in.

The same procedures go for adding videos and sound FX.  When you’re all don editing your word, remember to click on SAVE.
