KL, I rec'd the deluxe kit and boy, you really did a great job. The materials are so well made...definitely not cheap looking. My husband couldn't believe I got the whole box for $40. Thank you so much. KL, I'm from HongKong too. I think you deserve one of those outstanding entrepreneurs award. You did an amazing job out of a simple passion to give your child something good. Congratulations and thank you!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Math concepts - More vs Less
|
on: January 25, 2010, 04:27:53 PM

Dear all, I wonder for those with success in teaching math for your babies...i.e. those can actually tell 86 dots from 34 dots, do they also understand the concept of more vs less as well?
I mean, as far as I know, kids were taught quantity concepts before actually counting objects in a regular math curriculum,. I thought, with all these months of LM exposure, my son (who is brain injured) should at least know what's more what's less... at least visually. However, after several times I 'tested' him, he does not seem to be able to grasp that concept consistently. (he got it right sometimes but sometimes not). I am wondering if I should forget about showing math dots until he got that straight?

Has any one have problem searching for library files? eg I typed in Christmas in the keyword search but no result is found. I tried advanced search and still no result found. I even typed in the file that I uploaded last year, so it has to be there...yet no result found. It doesn't happen just now...I don't usu have much luck searching. Why is that?

Thanks for the reply. But I am not really changing anything but the pronunciation (cuz my son is used to my accent I don't even need the points...just doing this as a get-around to download to the 2nd computer. Can I upload it, then once I "txf" to the other computer, I immediately delete the file (since it's really a duplicate in the library)

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / editing existing files

Hi, I like to ask if it is ok to edit files that I download from the forum, e.g. changing the voice recording, or pictures, then re-upload to the site? I do this only because I want to work on the file with my desktop (better microphone, setup, etc...), then have my laptop download it for my son's use. For ex. I will be using many of Flyivy's action words files. Please let me know if this is ok. Lilian

Wow, you're an amazing mom. I hate to say this...but did ABR Singapore know that you're combining this with patterning and respiratory patterning? I believe they are contradictory, if not, redundant stress to you and your daughter. Please ask them again so they can explain why. I hate to see you spend your precious time on something unnecessary. We are in Canada...we go to Montreal centre for evaluation and stuff. we use the machine most of the time cuz many things happen in my life in the past 2 years. I had cancer, then my mom got really sick, etc...taking time off from my son's treatment. Since I haven't put in much hours in ABR, so I can't say he has a lot of improvement. But he sure does show progress in his structure though...like the release of his neck muscles (he did not have a neck before! ), better use of elbow to support his body, etc....I plan to put in more ABR hours now that everything is back to normal. I guess I'll stop here since this is a Little reader forum anyway, Good luck from here.
