I learnt about Doman very late in a way, which is sad for me. But then I'm happy I did before my oldest turned 6! He is now 4yrs old. Two other kids are younger. First I read in a homeschooling forum on facebook (PL) about reading Doman style. I got interested, got in touch with sb who knows a lot about Doman and hence found more about early learning, got myself a book about reading and so got started. But at some point making paper flash cards was too much for me (what with doing English too and Encyklopedia) so I searched the Internet for PPS in Doman discussion. And I got here.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Re: 8 months old and no creeping and crawling... any advice?

kmum, i just did that a couple of days ago :)
http://www.youtube.com/v/m3MipC3CQ2A&rel=1As for track - why does it help? I don't understand... I haven't read that particular Doman book, but I've seen the track on you tube. How is it different from the simple floor, where there is so much place to crawl? And how do I do that if I have no wooden materials? But perhaps all the other advice works, she now turnes around all (staying on her tummy, I'm not sure how you call that activity) the time and tries to lift her hips (with torso), though briefly, and manages onlyto lift the torso. Yet, that's a start.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / 8 months old and no creeping and crawling... any advice?

hello, my third child seems to develop slowly. She is 8 months and a week, doesn't creep crawl, sit, or trying to sit, she mostly turns around now. I'm not good at vocab here - physical activities of a baby, but I hope you'll get the meaning. Should I do sth to help her? How? I don't have that Doman book and don't know much. My older ones developed physically much faster even though the third got some Doman reading etc early on (i found out about it some time after the third was born). So please, any advice will be welcome! She also doesn't try to be on all four, always on her belly. Unless I put her so - then about 15 sec she can manage.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: pps versus flash cards

I have just used a number o flashcards to make simple sentences. With a 4yr old (he reads already though). That was a hit! But my 2yr old daughter prefered to dance over the words, so... I think she'll learn by accident or something. She doesn't seem interested in learning words. Or I'm doing sth wrong, according to Doman. Sad...

I still wonder. Right now it's pps mostly. But my 2year old would like paper flashcards I think. She loves to touch everything. 4yr old and 0,5 year old don't mind. But I think that 2year old simply likes to move around all the time when she wants and sit on my knees only when she is sleepy

English is my second language too. I also use YouTube etc. I graduated from English philology so I have quite a start in general, but it doesn't make it easier to talk to babies (in my case anyway), unless I talk in a very adult manner, if you know what I mean... But as an English teacher I suggest minimal pairs (can you get a book like "Sheep or ship?") There are also some excercises on the web. Like here http://www.shiporsheep.com/besides, repeting what you consider ideal pronounciation and when pronouncing look in the mirror so that you see how you actually pronouncing words. You can find description of both manner and place of articulation of every sound, so you can then practice

Thank you all. I'll do PPT mostly. But intend to have some flashcards for making fun sentences on the floor. I just wish I had a loger day than 24 hours. That's just seems to short for teaching all that and preparations and all the householding when I have 3 kids...

I read all the threads linked above. But though I found them useful they did not answer my one question - what does Doman say about power points way? Well, if he doesn't approve, I'll still stick to pps because I can't afford neither money nor time to sooooo much material! I intend to teach both Polish reading, as well as English, Italian, MAYBE German and French. Apart from that EK, I love the very idea, and kids love the pictures. I know that people often view posts without responding I just hoped this question of mine was new enough to get an answer. I am a little suprised but happy that I'm not alone with Power Point attraction. I'm also curious about that Little Reader - what is it and so on. I'll check this out.
