Would anyone like to share their EL goals for this New Year that is 2013? Please everyone post to share some inspiration and advise with the community.

Great idea!
For us, goals such as "one of this or that a day" do not work, because life happens, and after a few days missing the planned activity, I'm demotivated.
I'm more into concrete tasks to achieve by a certain date. For example, I've started giving my daughter dictations. It works really well. So my goal would be to have her write independentely up to 50 words by June (end of the school year for us)

-dictation (more and more complex words)
-writing cursive
- having one or two regular penpals (to help with the previous goals)
-knowing basic addition facts
-memorizing two poems by Jean de La Fontaine

A New Year of learning, time to close the 2012 challenge.
We did OK, averaging 3 books a day, whether chapter books, digital books, picture books.
We didn't manage to read 1500 different ones thought, but I'm glad we read in two languages and that my daughter likes books without pictures.
Very interesting to see her learn the meaning of new words.

My daughter is 4. I raise her entirely on my own and teach full time.
Most of the time I'm with her I have to run the household and prepare classes and it's sometimes impossible to sit down with her and play/teach/read.
Although it's that stage now when she agrees to sit still for a worksheet or two. Currently we do very simple maths (she doesn't grasp additions yet) and writing/mazes...
Little Musician is a life saver and I have to say she enjoys LR a lot more at 4 than she did at 2!
I'm sure other members will have advice for you on teaching more than one littles!

My advice to keep you motivated: keep a list of the things you do throughout the day.
I feel like we don't do anything at all. Yet it helps me to see that we did some writing on that day or listened to an audio book or played Maths on the Ipad etc... It also helps to see the 'lacking' area, for example I concentrated a lot on writing but we didn't do anything on Geography for the past weeks.

She does not write nicely enough on her own but she loves tracing the lettters that I write for her and the whole process of decorating them, adding stickers, pictures of herself, puting a stamp on the envelope, mailing it...

I guess my question was "can we save them" on the Ipad.
I don't have wifi at home so I can't connect my Ipad. I'm looking for books to save as PDF to read in iBook.

This summer, the book "No regrets" was free for download for the Kindle on the Amazon website .
I don't have the Kindle but have the app on my Ipad.

How about the Aesop fables? Or the Chinese curriculum?
There are also a lot of free files created by the members in the download section.

You can download about 10 easy readers on 1+1+1=1 and save them on the Ipad

I'm looking for those kind of readers but to open and save on the Ipad and read in iBooks.

This gave me an idea!! I would start a new post but I am falling asleep and I can't even think where to start it. So I am writing here before I forget...

The YouTube video Bella wrote above made me think of a way to share books. Anyone who is interested could read a favourite picture book, or have their kids read, and we could make videos and share them in a thread.

Please open up a thread for this. We will add books read by children already on youtube and then our own recordings, why not in languages other than English.
My daughter was loving :'Watch your step, Mr Rabbit' and a little child is reading this book on youtube. it really motivated her!
There is also one told (i think!) by Eric Carle himself (brown bear)
