Wow ,that is wonderful indeed, Kyles mom, you have just given me a lot of hope as my child does not seem to be too fond of LM or dot . I was getting discouraged as I thought she is fast approaching the "cut of " for Quantity recognition. many thanks and karma to you for achieving this success and sharing it with us and giving me hope.

Mom to many, that is a very nice idea, I think all of us reach this point when we are not sure what to do further. As for me i have not quite reached that stage as I just recently started with EK. But i have some plans which I would like to share.
Human Physiology:
Bones of the body organs of the body (i chose this as my dtr seemed very fascinated with the charts in my doctors office)
General science:
Simple tools (as suggested by Doman) Air transportation Ground transportation Water transportation
Literature:
American writers Indian writers
Geography: World landmarks (not just the wonders)
I havent really worked on finding topics under the realm of religion but I supppose how about just introducing to different religions and under POIs , stating their main centers of faith.
I have done a few Ek categories including musical instruments/continents/shapes/ but following my dtrs lead we are doing wild animals /animals in Africa and so on. BTW I got some flashcards oin target, they are quite good. esp the landmarks category.
Mom to many, If you dont mind can I add your topics to my list? Thanks for the good topic.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: Reading Games

Tanikit, those seem to be some very good ideas, I will try them out for sure. The other game which I talked about in another thread is Diaper box game. very similar to your idea of having them jump on the card. In this you have 2 diaper boxs with the words stuck on them and roll them /place them in open space and ask your child to either touch or bounce a ball or roll a ball towards a particular word. To make it fun, they could tumble the boxes themselves. I havent tried it out yet so I do not know how well it will work but just an idea. Karma to you for this topic. As this is a very fun way of problem solving and reinforcing learnt words.

Some of the examples of couplets which I have been using are like: happy baby, red butterfly, tall giraffe full cup, blue book etc. essentially these are words which she has seen before just coupled together. If she has not seen adjectives before (these are called as modifiers by Doman) , you can show words like roll ball, clap hands, . Doman suggests using modifers whcih include words like red/blue (as in colors) , opposites (like tall/short, full empty) ---in short adjectives . Hello mommy, sounds like a good example . I think even if you havent shown her all the words, couple them with words she has seen before. Show 5 couplets for 5 days and then add one /remove one . If you think she likes them , keep the number same or else show less couplets. Then after showing about 20 or so couplets move on to phrases which can include : like your example:How are you?, I am hungry etc. Hope that helps. Even i do not have the book, these are just some things I had jotted down when I read the book.hope that helps

I just recently got this DvD from my library. I just happened to see it and was surprised as it mention Dr Doman's name on the product info. Well I have seen it with my dtr a couple of times and am a little ambivalent about using it . The words seem to be flashed quickly enough so as not to interupt the story and seem big enough for the TV screen. But It uses cartoons and , I think that certain words would convey the meaning better if shown the actual picture instead of cartoon. But I must say, i loved he story : about playing doctors from video 3 . Its quite funny. I havent seen the phrase part of it .
