Parents' Lounge / Coffee Corner - General Chat / Re: Do you share your knowledge with other people??

If you don't share any information with people about right brain education or early learning, it doesn't mean your selfish or anything. I found about early education when my baby was 11 months. I couldn't believe that babies could learn so much. I told my cousin about it and she was arguing with me that I shouldn't teach him anything. I don't sharing anything with her. I can't stand the arguing. I am very careful how I talk to people about all this. I told my neighbor about YBR and also gave her a copy of the dvds. A month later she had only negative things to say about early learning. She is spending $300 dollars per moth tutoring her son because he is so behind. Right now I am trying to get my friend to do some early education and right brain stuff with her baby. The baby was born 3 months premature and she is not interesting. She said her husband is smart and his parents didn't do any of these things with him, so why bother. some of my friends and family members believe am crazy and I know most of them would like to see me fail, so they can say I wasted money on the dvds, LR and LM. I am doing what I think is best my child. I don't care about what people have to say. I have one friend that support me and that's enough. She bought LR for my son without asking any questions. What more can I ask for.

In-order to respond properly to the issue of "to spank or not to spank", one has to first familiarize themselves with the definition of spanking and abuse. Spanking is defined as a number of slaps on the buttocks delivered in rapid succession, while abuse is defined as to cause injury or hurt by maltreatment.
To the young lady who spoke of the kids in the centre where she previously worked, stating that a large percentage of them receive spanking while growing up is making a "GIANT" leap. If each child's background is investigated I am 99.9% positive that the correlation that people tend to see regarding spanking and violent behaviour is much deeper and there are many other factors, which are not taken into consideration that may have affected theses kids. People tend to zero in on spanking and automatically blame it for the end product (the child); maybe this is done for convenience.
I myself am I product of a spanking household growing up and I am not at a disadvantage compared to my counterparts who were not spank.
I think each parent has to make an inform decision, based on their individual background and their child when making a decision regarding spanking.
To automatically label a parent, as a bully is as irresponsible as those who beat their children until they are unconscious or scared or use 'beating' has an easy fix.

my son is 29 months but will not go on the potty. he will sit on the potty but he won't do anything even if he really needs to go. he holds it in. as soon I take him off the potty, he would go on the floor or in his diaper. I would love for my son to be potty train by his 3rd birthday. any advice would greatly appreciated.

It is so nice when doctors said you only have a percentage chance of getting pregnant and you become a mommy. My mother was told I wouldn't be able to have kids because of some condition I was born with, but at 24 I got pregnant only twice of unprotected sex. I am happy for the baby, but wish it would have happen in my 30's because I wasn't ready and my boyfriend told me he wasn't ready to be a father either, so thats how I became the single mother.

Hi hypatia did you check out toysrus? In canada right now they have lots of sale on toys and the pretend kitchen like half price. They might be cheap too where you are. 600 dollars way too much. I don't celebrate christmas, but I buy stuff for my son because lots of stuff I need are on sale this time of year.

I don't know much, but I don't think your child will be confuse if he learns some phonics. My son is 28 months and I showed lots of sight words and he watches the talking word and letter factory and he is reading. He is reading sentences and sounding words. honestly, I am not doing much with him for several months now. He is just doing is thing by himself. I am totally busy trying to pass my classes.
