For me, I did experience the pain. But that's not what the story is about. At 4am of 07 Feb 2005, I woke up to go to the bathroom and had what doctors say is 'bloody show'. So, I woke up my husband and told him about it then just sent my doctor a message via SMS. She just told me to sleep and go to the hospital in the morning when I wake up. When I got to the hospital, I was hooked up to a monitor for about an hour os so, then was sent back home because I was still not having major, close intermittent contractions. So, I went home, had lunch and just stayed home and watched videos. Around 8pm, after dinner, I noticed that my underwear was so wet. My sister, who was an intern, told me that it could be that my water broke. I then called my doctor , who advised me to go to the hospital. So, I got promptly cleaned up and prepped and then brought to an area, which I assumed was the waiting room before actual delivery. Luckily, the hospital was not full at all and they allowed my husband to lie down in the bed next to me while they hooked me up to a monitor and subsequently injected with something to induce contractions. In the course of the contractions, I was arm wrestling with my husband who was suprised with my strength - given the pain I was experiencing! However, after about 12 hours of labor, I ended up having a c-section due to the umbilical cord being wrapped around my son's neck. After I gave birth to my 6lb 10oz son and saw and touched him for the first time, who cared about the pain?!?!? I was so overwhelmed with happiness and excitement at seeing him. It was one of the most wonderful feelings I have ever experienced. Going through the pain was all worth it!!!

I started doing flashcards with my son when he was only about 4 months old. Since the ready-made cards are expensive, I thought of making them myself. But with this program, I can easily make these flashcards. I thought of using the words of items you see around the house, like bed, window, plate, etc. Am attaching what I made and it's still a work in progress. I didn;t add an audio file because I thought that each mom can use their own voice to pronounce the words the way they pronounce it - whether it's American English, British English, or Australian English.
Here it is . . . .

I read somewhere before that the first colors a baby recognizes are black, white, and red. Hence, there might not be much of a difference. However, red is more attractive and will catch the attention of babies and toddlers more easily than black. I used the red letters for the word flash cards and my son liked it.

My son's name is Joaquin Honesto. Joaquin was a name I always liked and Honesto is my Father-in-law's formal name. Being the first male grandson to carry the last name, my husband thought it was a good idea to put his dad's name. That put a smile on my fahter-in-law's face. Coming from the Philippines, a lot of the last names are either of Malay, Chinese or Spanish origin. My husband's last name and my maiden name are of Spanish origin so we thought it would be appropriate to have a Spanish name.

Hi.
When a family friend of ours gave us the book, How To Teach Your Baby To Read, I immediately jumped to the opportunity of teaching my son as early as 6 months. He enjoyed looking at the flashcards. Then, even before he started going to school he was familiar with number already. Now that he is in toddler school, he enjoys learning. I noticed, though, that you can't force your child to learn as much as YOU want. It has to be at his/her own pace. When the child is not attentive anymore to what you are teacheing, then it's time to stop. As what a lot or all of the child psychologists say, babies have to be happy in order for the learning to really be effective.
Just thought I'd share this.
Thanks!

I already downloaded the new release and I noticed a significant improvement. I noticed that files (importing) open more quickly than the older versions. However, if I may make a suggestion, I hope you will come up with newer versions that allow us to download and play them in our handheld PDA's. This will become very useful especially when we go on trips and I don't have my laptop. I noticed that my son calms down when I let him play with my Palm T/X. It also encourages him to use his fine motor skills. In any case, I am very happy with the improvements that you've made. Last night I downloaded lots of word lists and my son enjoyed them. He was very attentive and repeated the words he heard from the multimedia files. Thanks very much for creatng this!!

Hello everyone. I am from the Philippines - a mother of a 3-year old boy. I am a stay-at-home mom who tries to teach my boy as much as I can about letters, numbers and new words and concepts. When I came across this program, I was so excited because I was doing my own flash cards by hand and creating power point presentations for him. This has certainly made life easier for mom's who are teaching their kids.
Now am trying to fell my way through so I can make full use of this program.
Thanks for creating this!! This is really wonderful!!

Hi! I also just wanted to share that I also read the book How to Teach Your Baby to Read and I did make additional flashcards. Then I decided to make flashcards using MS Powerpoint, which my son and my nieces and nephews loved. At least now there's a program that does this! This is exactly what I have been looking for.
Thank you for creating this program!
