Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: Family Bed

As I am typing this, my little one is napping on my lap. Just when I think he's out, I try and put him in his crib and he wakes up and cries. He's been doing this at bedtime too. I have a bedtime routine and he was really good about falling asleep by himself but then we went on vacation for a few days. He didn't like his playpen so he slept with us the entire time. So now that we are home, I'm worried that he's formed a habit of wanting to sleep with me. I'm not against "family bed" but I don't sleep good when we are all together...I like my space to sprawl out I might have to take nhockaday's advice and just let him cry a little.

Thank-you to sb1201 for referring flylady.net KARMA for you I've really enjoyed setting up my routines. Being a SAHM, I seem to get distracted easily. This has helped me to better plan our day and I hope to keep it consistent. Currently we do LR 3 times a day plus math lessons (9am, 1pm & 4pm). I try to do a craft activity everyday and I'm also trying to get in the routine of us exercising in the morning.

I too buy organic food. My dh on the other hand doesn't think that the extra cost is worth it. I told him that if starts going grocery shopping and cooking dinner himself, then he could get what he wanted. Obviously that won't be happening. After reading "The Skinny ******" book, that changed my mind too.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Re: Elimination communication (EC)

My DS is 14 months and earlier this week he had started to really be tugging on his diaper all the time. He also was always very interested in watching me go to the bathroom too. So I thought it was time to start potty training. I went to the library and got us both some books and video's to check out. Within my research, I had never heard of EC. I did learn about early training which I now wish I had done. But either way, I went and bought him a potty chair today and the first time he sat on it...he went pee. Oh how excited I am!!! I do know that it's just the beginning of a long process but it really encourages me to make that commitment with him. Together we can do it!
