I am leaning towards mathabacus, but I am waiting for my son's abacus to arrive, which I bought from a local school, seeing as how he may be better able to work with an abacus with bigger beads rather than the one offered on mathabacus. I've mentioned it before in other language posts, but if you are interested there are language sites where you could find native speakers of your target language that may be interested in maybe reading a story to the baby or even helping you learn some common phrases so that you can communicate with your little one. All of the languages I am teaching started off, except a few, with just audio cd's and dvd's. I learned with my son so that I could communicate in each language with him and he could hear it from me in addition to the cd's and dvd's.

I have been using skype for a while now to talk to friends and family, but mainly for my language exchange lessons I have every week. My son would get on and chat with my teachers/friends every now and then, but not often because he was usually sleep around that time. Anywho, a couple of months ago a friend of mine, who lives in Russia, expressed her challenges related to teaching her son english so I suggested getting a webcam and having a session through skype to see if it would help. I fugured that maybe if our sons saw someone else their size speak the language we are trying to teaching them they might take more interest and the exposure would be great for them. My friend has already created a list of phrases and words to somewhat focus on.We will start with a topic of interest and then take it from there. As you can see I have been procrastinating tremendously, but I must say thank you hypatia for this post, because I needed it to get back on track and get this language exchange started:)

I am not sure how much help I will be as I am at a standstill myself trying to figure out where to go next as far as math is concerned. The following link may help and attached to Domanmom's post she has link that was helpful when I was first starting out. She goes beyond multiple step equations, but it has been a while since I did doman so I am not sure if she has added new material or not.

Have you done sequencing, fractions, or other topics doman talks about venturing into after the multiple step equations, or is this what you are looking for?

I believe they are different words to say the same thing. I had all of the translations double checked by my friend who is a native speaker and she also added the voice for me. I am glad you are enjoying it and I hope to finish the series of files soon

To all of you that downloaded this file, I want to let you know that I found a mistake with one of the characters. This file was meant to be simplified chinese, but the character for cat is in traditional chinese not simplified. I noticed it while trying to re-create this file using PPT. I do apologize for this and any inconvenience this has or might cause. FYI the charcters are pretty similar, the traditional character is 貓 and the simplified character is 猫. 

Does anyone know if there is a way to go in and fix the mistake or would it just be easier to do it individually?

This is simplified chinese and a friend of mine added the voice for me. She is from the north-east part of china, a province called jilin (吉林). I am not as confident as my teacher is with my spoken chinese, but maybe in the future I will get the courage to add my own voice to the files   I am glad you like it and I hope to have the next one ready soon!!
