Hello everyone,

Its been quite a long time since I have written to the forum. However, this topic seemed pretty interesting as I was having this discussion with my hubby the other day.
Anyway, getting to the point......we have thought a lot about whether to homeschool our little girl or not. My husband brought about a great point in regards to this (He is the director of a well known company and has 2 masters in Engineering and MBA from UCLA)....he said " At the end of the day the most important thing is to know how to deal with people....these days people skills are above anything else. Well, we do need a good academic foundation and that can be obtained by home schooling. However, to attain PR skills, leadership quality and to know how to work as a team you will need to put her in a school." He feels that she will miss out on a lot things like making lifelong friends, teamwork, group activities which are all important especially once you get into workforce. Academic smartness is one thing but to be able to succeed in your chosen field you do need people skills and that can be gained only through experience. Don't get me wrong, I still think homeschooling is such a wonderful thing but if we could have a little bit of both that will be even better.

So we have decided that she will go to a school ......but we will still do afterhour school at home. If the Swann family took only 2 hours of the day to do school work then we can easily do 2 hours after school.

Well, I am just putting forward our thoughts out there so please feel free to point out if I am missing out on some points or if I have got it completely wrong. Would love to hear from all the moms out there on how they feel about sending their kids to school or are planning to homeschool their little ones.

Don't know how to thank you guys for the wonderful addition to the brillkids family 'Little Musician'....my little one absolutely loves it. She just can't seem to get enough of the LM lessons. Her face just lights up when I play the LM lesson for her. Can't wait for the complete curriculum. What a neat idea especially for parents who are not very musically inclined and can't teach their kids music on their own.

Thanks a lot Teachingmytoddlers...I guess I will wait for the actual LM version to be launched before putting the rainbow colors on the piano....however, is it ok to apply the rainbow colors to the other LM lessons (in the testing version).

Oh ok....so in the LM that I have downloaded...I saw that we have a free play keyboard but its not color coded (even after downloading the rainbow colors and applying them to all the lessons), can you please help me here?

That is very impressive indeed. I was wondering where I can get a color coded online keyboard like the one you are using on your laptop for teaching the kids?

Will LM have the same feature?

Could somebody please suggest some good math progr to start with a 1 yr old?

I don't think there is anything to worry about...I was told by the gymbaroo instructor that its actually better if the baby learns to sit after they learn to crawl, she forced me not to put her in the sitting position and to just put her on her tummy throughout the day. In 3 days my daughter learnt how to crawl and then she sat on her own after crawling.

Try showing her the chinese lessons first thing in the morning after she wakes up (of course after her feed)...it might help.

Welcome Elloise to this wonderful world of early learning. You know what...I can totally relate to you when you said "When I am thinking of teaching her I am usually looking working to find things to show her... or figuring out how to make things to show her. It seems like I do not get many projects completed. I just spend more time on the computer. I think I am procrastinating because I feel anxious about how others in the family will evaluate her learning, and my choices". I finally decided to sit down and decide on what to do each day. I also decided not to look at new products anymore or until I finish what I am doing with her now. Its definitely v hard to fit in everything and also actively researching on what next to do with her. I spend a lot of time in front of the computer trying to research on what all I can teach my little one....and yeah sometimes I think that my baby will better of if I spend that screen time with my baby by doing things that we already researched abt.

Hey Tms ...that's wonderful how ur little one picked up so much being ur audience ...and Christine u did not sound like u were bragging .....its just sooooo cute how ur baby goes 'I love u" that must have made u feel sooo special ....and Linzy I am just amazed at how many words ur eldest knew by the age of one ..he is definitely a bright boy to have picked  up so many words.Lelask its just wonderful isn't it when they start speaking and esp in ur native tongue

That's fantastic Tms...do u think that you contributed in someway for him to develop speach so early? If so how?
