EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / How much TV

I read in the Brill Kids weekly email a few weeks back that my baby who is 10 months should only be watching 30 mins of tv a day. Just wondering how I work around this, he does LR twice a day andI also often get him watching YBCR or Monkisee, hard to get all this in in just 30 mins. Just wondering what other people do?
Thanks

Sorry I wasn't more specific. On the website, on the right hand side you will see a picture of the February 2011 catalogue (which is the current catalogue), click on that and you will see the full 65 page catalogue which has over 450 products in it. Just to give you a bit of context The Learning Ladder aims to help parents instil a love of learning in children and wants to supply products that helps children reach their full potential. Their aim is to help parents have a well resourced home learning environment. As for products for those ages, there are so many to choose from but I would recommend looking at the following: Preschool/4 yr old * Starter Stile Tiles with pre number and pre reading books and early reading and early number books (p36/37) - these are just fabulous, a teacher I know uses these in the classroom with her children and raves about them. The tiles of the stile tray are used with the range of books to introduce essential concepts in maths and literacy in a way that is fun and will ensure children don’t become bored or discouraged. Children have to match the tiles to the pages in the book, once complete they flip the tiles over and if they are correct it will match the pattern shown on that page. * Get Ready for Kindergarten Kit (p22) * Make a Word (p27) * Pat and the Cat Friends Books (p29) - I love these books, each of the 5 books use flip the page format to teach the 5 vowel sounds. * I-Spy Game (p27) - Teaches awareness of letter sounds, develops observation and vocabulary. * The Cotton Reels (p14), Construction Set (p25) and Early Learning Library (p21) are also great! Oh and I absolutely love the Wipe Clean Books on page 21, think I better stop there!!
2 month old * First Focus Library (p9) * Baby Sign Language Kit (p7) My 8 month old son also loves the Peekaboo and Noisy Peekaboo books on page 10/11.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you have any other queries. Amelia

Hi Aussie girls! Have any of you guys heard of the Learning Ladder? I went to a recent expo and found their products and fell in love with them. There are some great products to assist children in reading, literacy and maths. I couldn't afford everything I wanted so signed up to sell them. I'm on facebook under Amelia Bell - Independent Advisor for The Learning Ladder or you can see their catalogue at www.learningladder.com.au if you wanted to have a look. The Starter Stiles are amazing if anyone has kids 3 plus! Happy to give everyone from here a special 10% off with their first order. Amelia

Thanks, I guess I don't want to lose that window of opportunity but also don't want too much to give him, I think I have enough to get us to about 18 months but hope that wont be too late to start some others programs. In the 0-12mths range I have only seen YBCR, LR and Monkisee (for reading) which are just made to start at that age, is that right or are there others I have missed? Thanks Can anyone else make other suggestions for the 0-3 age range for me?
