BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Mix LR with Little Musician

Hi Everyone!
I'm trying LR and LM. My son so far doesn't have much patience with LR, but he is loving Little Musician.
I wonder if there is a problem to mix both in a same session, with both programs open and using ALT+TAB between "Enters". Of course I know it's possible, but my question is if it is not recommended considering all the theory behind these softwares.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: connecting family members into your childs EL day

That is a wonderful idea!
I use Facebook and blog to spread some news to family members, but anyway, I'm broadcasting. I'm not receiving back. The private page is perfect.
I can try but I think only few people will actually contribute.
The interesting point I think about you post, is that your daughter has "social network" concept pretty clear in her mind. Or at least will have soon.

Please give us more information about what they said regarding part time enrolment. I think part time on site enrolment would be the ideal situation. If my kids could go to school 3 days a week and be home schooled for 3 I would be sooooooo happy! They would be soooo happy and all the work we want done would get done. Including the extra curricular stuff like music and languages. After schooling takes a delicate balance of play and rest time, focused learning time, and extra curricular activities. To excell beyond school level your need kids who can buckle down for one to two hours a day. Really it's one Saxon lesson a day and some reading time. I would ideally work them more until they can read anything put in front of them. Here we just switch the focus. The first 2 years are focused on reading until they are high school level readers then we switch to math focus for after schooling. We use car travel time for extra learning like history, geography and science. My kids are in the car a minimum of 7 hours a week. The more car learning we can do the better I wonder what I have to do in Australia to get part time schooling approved? Dear Mandabplus3 Sorry but I’m not receiving e-mails from this topic. I guess your question was for me. About my inquiry on Laurel Springs, they said that enrolling a young kid full time in two schools would not be a good idea. They have part time beginning on 4th grade, and by part time it means taking up to three courses and the child won’t receive a diploma from them, since the main school is supposed to be another one. If a child is enrolled in four or more courses, it’s considered Full-Time. That is what they told me.

I'm also doing this Mela Bala... reading everything in this forum This is a great environment. If EL had come to my mind earlier I would have started as soon as possible. I'm starting now and I see some difficulties with my active 18-month-toddler. But since I already used to read to him, I think LR is being really helpful. Yesterday I got him pretending to read a message on the elevator, pointing to words and saying any word that came to his mind. Also I saw him pretending to spell the words “car park”, pointing to each letter and making some sounds.

Wow cokers4life
That was really helpful!
As far as I know, I think the LeapPad may not be the greatest thing in terms of technology, but its apps are great. I have Android and iPad devices, and although they are much better and much more powerful than a LeapPad, the apps aren't really that great. And also there is too much distraction.
Am I right?
You said you have a Nabi. What version is it?
I was considering to buy one instead of the LeapPad but I've read some reviews and I realized that the built-in Apps are just those free Apps you can download with any Android device, and full of ads. Is it true? I think a Nabi is a high-tech gadget but without the concern of a good curriculum. Also I saw several complaining on Nabi 2 about broken screen and non-access to the Nabi environment on the clouds.

We used only water until 6 months and then we started using a special toothpaste with less components in its formula. It was recommended by the doctor and dentist. With 6 months my son had already a lot of teeth.
