BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: BrillKids Criteria for approving Little Reader files as Premium Content

Here is another idea to consider, if two people worked on creating a really good quality upload ( lets say I put together photos, videos and words; and someone else did the prononciation or prononciation and words, just because my prononciation is not good, so we will work with some one else to get a better quality file overall), would it be possible to ahve an option to have two different people as authors ( their screen names) and then when the file will start generating points, they would both receive points ( 1/2 each). It would facilitate cooperation and production of higher quality files. What do you think?

Skylark, That sounds like a plan let's exchange tips and methods. Right now we are just showing her Little Pim mandarin and we play in the background the Mandarin Pimsleur chinese CD's. This week I'm going to start playing songs from the website you shared to see how she does. How do you know your daughter likes them since it is only sound? Joha, sorry I have not replied earlier, it was simply busy week And I thought I wrote here, but I have not, ha Well, about her liking it. She is pretty good at communication. She very clearly shows when she is interested or likes something and when it is not so interesting for her. I was putting her in the jumper lately for the time when she was listening to Chinese songs, she would start jumping and giggling to them, and would stop when they would stop. I also put a Chinese Children drama/story with narration for her, and put her in her swing to listen. She listens pretty intently, and when it is over she start asking to be picked up, but not while its playing. The songs from the site I mentioned work out great for me, because they are pretty high quality and really fun ( not boring) musically. I also just started putting the same song in Chinese and English at different times during the day. My husband, said that doing that helped them as kids when they were learning a few dufferent languages. Of course it is not easy to find lots of songs that are done in different languages with good quality, but I am working with the ones from the site right now and it is working out great. I think I will continue doing that. I also started with 4 different songs and one drama/story, then the next week I added two new songs and retrieved 2, and added another story, just to have a measure of repetition with some new things...

Cyncyn, will you be able to share some of the files that you prepared for your curriculum? That would be great! I do not speak or read Chinese, so I can not really create it myself ( I am/will be working on the Russian/Ukrainian though ). But since part of our family speak Chinese, and we need to teach our baby to speak it too, I am always on the look out for some teaching content for her, that has writing and prononciation ( audio). Looking forward to hear from you!!

I really like the fact that there is curriculum available, which we can use but at the same time we can modify, add, take away and personalise I am not aware of other program that can be that multifaceted in that aspect Also with most learning programs, you would need to purchase a completely enw different set for another language, here, you can use the same photos, pictures, and add your own language, or get the baby interested by having moms, dads, or uncle's voice reading some of the words I like the fact that the possibilities are limitless and that we can share the presets with each other.

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Chinese curriculum for LR

Some time ago, it was mentioned that there might be a Chinese curriculum for LR.
Would that be a part of the present bundle, in addition to English? or Would it come as an additional "premium content"? Would we be able to get it using our points?
Any time frames? When it might be released?
I am just wondering if I will need to start saving my points towards that content, or if it might be first in a free section and then will be moved into premium, or given as a part of our LR bundle?
Thank you so much!
I am very excited about the possibility of having Chinese course similar to the one in English. By the way, I took a sneak peek at English curriculum, it looks great! Thank you so much!

"Share your BrillKids Lessons Uploading Little Reader and Little Math files to the forum no longer earns you points right away.
However, once your file hits the 100th download mark, your file will reach "premium status" and it will automatically earn you a massive amount of points!"
Does that refers to LM presets as well? From what I understood before there will be no premium status for LM presets, so does this still apply in regards to points?
Thank you!
And BIG THANK YOU for excellent job with making these lerning systems a reality and Brillkids a community in every wonderful sense of the word.
So great to be a part of it!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Re: question about Doman math dots sessions

Another question I have....
When showing the first set of additions, do they have to be under 20 ( so this way we are starting with smaller numbers), or it is Ok for them to be anything up to a number that my girl learned.
The reason I am asking is that I waited till I reached quantity 40 before I started equasions.
So what would you suggest, -- doing first equasions with numbers under 20 or working under the 40 right away?
I would imagine that it would not matter, since baby sees any quantity as a whole, and not "counting the dots" so to say... But since I do not have GD book, I was wondering if there is anything about that in there, or if you had any experiences that would be helpful for me to know.
Thank you so much!

I think, whether with cards or with LM the principle is the same. By showing the Dot Cards and saying the number, you are helping your babies to associate numbers with the quantity they see ( since they see the full quantity right away, and do not need to count the dots, like we adults do), see, -- the dots are true quantity, so your babies will know what "2" or "15" mean, when you say the number and show true quantity.
I think it does not matter whether it is one baby or two or even more.
I've seen others doing math dots cards with 3-4 babies at the same time. Just keep it simple, joyful and short.
And dont be discouraged, because even when we think the babies do not pay too much attention, they actually do.
Congratulations on your twins, I am sure you are doing a great job!
