There was a man called Fred 'Rise and Shine' said he, and got off the bed.
Fred never complains, he is always happy He smiled and would make his hands clap, clap, clappy
He lives all alone and yet, There isn't a person he hasn't met!
Every morning, he goes to town, Where he performs in the circus as a Dare-Devil clown
He can juggle 25 balls with only one hand while making phone calls
Fred's best at trapeze, where he flies in the air As his wife Frieda uses her toes to catch him by his hair
Why Frieda and Fred live apart, no one knows But the truth is fred’s wife is the best in the women rows
Fred's favourite pastime is to fish by the lake He'd hook herrings, halibuts, hoki and hake!
Fred likes eating bun , he enjoys the fun And when he's done, he'll head into the forest for a run
The only thing he won't tell you, or even ask you to do, Is to say his ten times table, or if he could count to twenty two.
Alas one fine day, a realization hit him His moustache had grown so long that he badly needs a trim and so off to the barber he did go, to trim the moustache and his right big toe.
Just then his long lost son Freddie turned up with 2 bags of laundry and a little brown pup He jumped in the air and shouted with glee "I'm home Mom and Dad! Make my bed up for me!"
Up stairs he goes to take a nap and when he awakes he puts on his cap
Like his dad, he never complains When it's too dark outside, and it heavily rains
He just wants to spend his time Watching tele and making up rhymes.
Now Freddie has also a story to tell, of his space adventure that didn't turn out too well He visited the planets, oh no, that's not swell!

I was a stay at home mom with my own 3 children, and because I had very little help and support from my husband I was always tired and resentful. He did not want me to work outside of home, and I felt that at 21 my whole life was just disappearing before it had even started! Unfortunately my attitude had a negative effect on my children. Eventually after 18 years I started working again and was retrenched 2 years ago after 15 years in the same job!
I now have my foster baby and send her to creche in the mornings. I also have help from my husband. What a difference I have found. I am older, wiser and have much more patience with the baby. We also seem to have forgotten all the lovely little things about a baby that just make us happy parents. One big problem is that we are now on the ohter end of the scale and are really too old to take on such a small baby.
Oh well, only time will tell, but the joy we have with this little "angel" has been worth every minuite.

Once upon a time, Santa Clause wandered into my garden and dropped his cookies on blue carpet that my sacks of beads fell onto. I picked pickled parsnips from Papa's popular place, then danced deliriously for my baby panda and he got slept under the Christmas tree. Whenever reindeer passes through the lovely supermarket OVERFLOWING with laughter

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: flash cards
|
on: November 29, 2008, 04:01:22 AM

Hi Ksomom I have made flash cards for my baby and grandson. In fact I am trying to set up a little business to try and sell them. Flash cards are certainly not readily available here. I have used material from this site as well as my own. I print on normal computer paper and laminate them myself. I have used a ring binder to store them. I find that Sive loves to flip through them herself as well. I also have others that have multiple pictures of the same thing and the same word printed many times on a single page. In this case I have printed the word in upper and lower case and used different fonts. At this stage I have made numbers as well as animals and "everyday" things. I have a single word on the back of the card and a picture on the front. E.g. for the word "mommy" I have a picture of myself on the reverse side. Hope this helps. If you would like more info just let me know.

I have a daughter and 2 sons who are all grown up and living around the country. My daughter has a beautiful baby boy of 8 mths. Last year we fostered a 2 mth old black baby girl. She is the delight of our lives. She is now 15 mths old and bright as a button. It has been a wonderful experience for us because we were very young when we had our children, and we now have time to watch and learn from this little child what we have forgotten. Must say it certainly keeps us hopping having a toddler around. . We live in Port Elizabeth in South Africa.

I really dont know. I presume so. I have the problem with my foster child as I can't get that information from her mother and will just have to go with my gut. But hey, I am OVER THE MOON. After months of waiting I finally received Sive's birth certificate today. (In South Africa we work on half time!!!) Both my child and her little sister were never registered by the mother when they were born.

Morning all I have read all the posts with great interest. My foster baby is due for her MMR now as she is 15 months old. I do tend to think that the smarter we become the more stress we put on ourselves. When I had my children between 1972 and 1983 there was absolutely no question of not vaccinating your baby and I will be vaccinating the new babe too. If one considers just how many people there are in the world who are vaccinated with the same vaccine it is VERY unfortunate if the side effects of this vaccine can be directly attributed to a serious condition your child may develop. I am certainly not saying this can not happen, just that I think it is much more rare than "people" are saying. Have a great thoughtful day!
