I was at Target the other day and they have lots of falsh card in their 1$ bins at the front of the store. Lots of stuff like Presidents, animals, and famous locations around the world. I actually had to go to 3 different stores for something else and all 3 had the same cards.

I have to agree with the poster who mentioned sign language tying it all together. You can sign and say the same word in multiple languages. As far as speech delays go, I think some kids just talk later than others. My ped kept telling us my ds learning multiple languages was delaying his speech, but I kept teaching multiple languages anyway. At 2 and 1/2 ds had a very small spoken vocab, but could sign a lot(another thing people told me was keeping him from speaking), and had a rather large receptive vocab. Now just 6 mos later and his expressive vocab has exploded to so many words I can't even count them anymore. He even uses 4 syllable words regularly. I think the exposure to multiple languages is way more important than speaking early.

Is the print on the cards large? Does it really have to be? I am just getting started with this and everything says the print should be really large to catch the baby's attention, but all the cards I see have normal size print. Does it matter? Thanks. Amanda

Hello- I just downloaded Little Reader and I can't wait to get started using it with my kiddos. I had been using the Your baby can read videos and got okay response from my 3 yr old and nothing from my 1 yr old. Then I read Doman's book and while waiting for my card set to arrive I made 5 simple (but ugly, I am not artistic at all) word cards. I did them 2 times a day for 3 days and on the 3rd day my 3yr old read 2 cards before I had a chance to say what the word was! Today, day 5, he can read all 5 words! Little one gets excited about it too, but she hasn't said any words other than mama and dada yet! I look forward to getting to know all of you. Amanda
