Autumn, Thank you so much for your comments. I have to say I don't disagree with pating your kids on the bottom as a last resource. I think spanking sounds like you are hitting your kids repeatly and full fource and that is not what I agree with. I think I may check some of the other books that people have suggested. I'm really interested in finding methods of discipline or training so I may never have to pat my baby on her bottom. That would be ideal! ![laugh](http://forum.brillkids.com/Smileys/emoji/laugh.png) Right now I can't even picture that into my head (spanking), but I'm sure that is because she is so little that she has never gotten into my nerves. Has anybody heard or know about the "wisdom stick" technique?

Well, I have to confess this, I couldn't resist the temptation to do problem solving and did one today...(I just wanted to make sure it works before we move on...silly me! ![blush](http://forum.brillkids.com/Smileys/emoji/blush.png) ) We are into day 15 of the curriculum, quantity 14. I am glad to say my LO got it 100% right!! Congratulation Questers! That is awesome! Even though we love our children not matter what the answer is, let's be honest at the bottom of our hearts that is what all of us desire. We have done any math problem solving, but lat Thursday my husband was reading "The very hungry caterpillar" to our dd (her favorite book) and he asked her where was blue, and she put her hand on top of it, where is yellos and she got it right again and then he got scared and stopped ![LOL](http://forum.brillkids.com/Smileys/emoji/lol.png) Yesterday, I played the color game with her with some color blocks we have and she got it right 5 times out of 6. The most important part was that both of us had a lot of fun. She was LOL and that lighten up my day! Let's keep up our wondeful teaching, I'm sure we are going to have many more of thes wonderful experiences!

As far as I know you can download the software onto two computers. Regrading the 6 or 12 months curriculum, I think it depends on how long you want to do this for. I can't give you my point of view regarding the content because the 12 month curriculum is not out yet, but I love the 6 month curriculum because it is ready, is interactive and has allowed me to work on other projects I wanted to do.

First of all, I want to say I respect parents "parenting decisions". I know all of us want the best for our children and do what we think is right for them, because we sure love them! Now, I read this post and was thinking about getting the book "To Train up a Child" because some of the reviews here. Looked in amazon.com and the reviews are very discouraging. It has two and a half starts (not good to start with) and some of the reviews are scary. I would really like to hear people's personal experience about following the book.

Thanks Joha,
Does that kit contain lesson plans etc? How long would the material last for?
Many thanks
YBCR comes with 5 DVD's that are good for about 7 months. However, after that time you can keep showing them, just sporadically. It comes with instructions of how many months you need to show each DVD. It also comes with flash cards and workbooks that go along with the DVD's. It is recommended to watch the DVD with you child. Personally, sometimes I do it, sometimes I don't. You can ready these threads to get a little bit more feedback about this product: http://forum.brillkids.com/teaching-your-child-to-read/ybcr-good-or-bad/http://forum.brillkids.com/teaching-your-child-to-read/ybcr-vs-brillkids/msg30092/#msg30092BST is a series of DVD's. They don't have a "curriculum", but they are very good. Doman's Math Kit: It is very easy to follow. I love it because we get to do some physical flash cards with her and they are ready, they have a good size and you know the information is accurate. Now, we do the equations with LM because even though Doman's FC have the equations in the back, it does take a little bit more time to get all the materials ready (I'm just being lazy ![wub](http://forum.brillkids.com/Smileys/emoji/wub.png) ) However, I have to say that out of all the products we have (we have quite a few) LR and LM are some of the best. It does really help reduce the prep time that is a huge help when doing several things at a time. Hope this helps!

I'm not understanding why everyone has them at their Targets and I don't? I'm hoping that they have just not put them out yet. Did they have a lot of stuff left in the bins or did it looked picked through?
We went to several Targets. The one that had most of the stuff and wasn't to picked through was a new Target that wasn't open alst year. The other ones did look kind of empty. However, I found the same sets that you already have for EK ( I also found two sets of phonics, opposites and words) . Now the smartmats and the workbooks are nice for the future in my case. I'm not sure if you have any of those.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Infant Stimulation Cards - What age should I start?
|
on: July 12, 2009, 04:20:04 AM

Hi kims_mummy! Infant stimulation cards are not supposed to be flashed. You are supposed to let them play with them. I'm not 100% sure if you should explain what they are seeing. I think they are two aspects to that part because communication is important and the more you talk to your baby the better, but on the other hand is good to let them, for their creativite, figure out what they are seeing. I think you can talk about some and other just let him play with them. Regarding the number, I used to give my baby about three cards, let her play with them and switched them. I used to do it a couple of times a day when she was doing tummy time. You can also put them in different places where the baby hangs out so even if he is not playing with them, he can look at them when he feels like it. I hope this helps a bit!

Flash cards, flash cards. We printed a lof of flash cards form this site and laminated them. We also ordered the Doman's Math Kit and love it. If I had to start all over again, I would order both programs, the Reading Kit and the Math Kit from the Institue. I think right now they have free shipping. Their website is http://www.gentlerevolution.com/We did start YBCR (your baby can read) and BST (baby signing time) when our daughter was 4.5 months old.

I have been using the website that nhockaday mentioned, but sometimes you just need to follow your instict. I wanted to do vegetables first and I did, but my daughter got a little constipated a couple o days after I started her in solids, so I decided to give her some fruit before I had anticipated in order to help her digestion . I did green beans and peas first.

Thank you to both for your replies! I think that it would be really hard to do the 10 magnitutes about everything. It is nice that you guys already know what kind of things your kids may be interested in. Valerie is too little right now to let me know what interestes her the most (I do know she likes math ![yes](http://forum.brillkids.com/Smileys/emoji/ok.png) ). So I think I'm just going to do random themes or categories until I figure out what she likes the most and just do the POI based on the information I have on hand. purplefungi, Have you posted here the powerpoint presentations you were talking about?
