According to Dr. Glenn Doman's methods, you can teach babies to read, do math, learn multiple languages etc. right from birth. You can read the book "How to teach your baby to read" and "How to teach your baby math" by Dr. Doman for better comprehension and minute details. Otherwise, you can go through the forums in this website for details.

I trust Doman and his methods. But I would like to see some videos of the children trained by the Institutes doing instant math (add, sub, multiplication, division, and fractions).

"How to teach your baby to read" has a lot of testimonials from parents who were successful in getting their children to read. Why does the book "How to teach your baby to do math" does not carry any testimonial section?

I am from India, as well. Chennai, to be precise. Mom of a 8-month-old boy.

I am definitely benefiting a lot from Brillkids.

Nirupa, I too bought the kit from Little Gems and found that it was of no use.
1. My son was not interested in flashcards.
2. It had only 250 words in English. I am sure 250 words is no way close to the vocabulary one needs to know in order to read a language.
3. The pictures in their picture cards did not look very real.
4. They have modified the Doman method to their advantage. They insist on showing encyclopedic knowledge from 6 month onwards, though Doman recommends EK after Reading and Math.

I am presently using their word cards for problem solving. I wish I could have bought LR and LM for the money I spent buying from Little Gems.

Can someone please tell me in what way is LR better than showing just powerpoint presentations?

Nirupa, are you using LR? Also, I would be interested in Tamil powerpoint presentations. Would be glad if you can share it.

Hi all,

I just want your suggestions on when I can start the math program with my baby. He will complete 7 months in a couple of weeks. We have been doing the reading program for 2 months now. We are just doing single words. Right now, we have done about 130 words. When should I start couplets? I want to show him at least another 150 single words, at least all the dolch words and other basic words.

I plan to start the Math program when he completes 8 months. Can I keep showing him single words till he completes 8 months and start couplets and math together, so that we focus more on math? Or can I continue with singles and couplets and also math...but I feel that would be too many sessions in a day. Or do you think I need to postpone math a little longer?

Has anyone done the reading and math program together? When did you start the math program and how did you manage to do both the programs. Please pour in your inputs.

I have been a silent reader of this website and I guess its time for me to participate too.

I have been following the Doman reading program consistently with my 6-month-old baby. We started the program when he was 4-month-old. And yday, my little one gave me a big surprise. When he was sitting with daddy, without any prior plan to do a problem solving session, I just showed him 2 cards and asked him which said "fountain." He grabbed the correct card and wanted to put it into his mouth. I tried with 7 other different words and shuffling between left and right, and each time he grabbed it right...We were just elated.    I hope, sincerely hope, that it was no fluke. We didnt want to do it too much, so stopped it at that.

Can anyone tell me how frequently can we do the problem-solving sessions?
