Physical activity stuff - Doman's basic physical program for a 3 month old doesn't really require any $$. The basic crawling/tummy time can be done on any smooth surface - perhaps your basic laminate flooring or if you only have carpet a yoga mat or the large children's rubber like mats (usually with letters or #'s). Try providing this opportunity to your baby after each nap or diaper change.
The basic balance program mostly requires you to carry/hold/swing your baby is different positions and motions. Again, no $$ required and can be done a few times a day and it only takes about 2-3 minutes at a time. You might try 'scheduling' it before each feeding.
Thankfully to teach swimming at this age you don't need to spend $ on a pool. Most of the swimming ideas can be implemented in a shower/bath once a day when you would normally provide your baby a bath/shower anyway.
I didn't start with the physical program, but if I had another child, I would worry about the physical program first, the math second, and language third. I have some other ideas, that hopefully I can write about later.
Good Luck to you and remember every little bit of love counts!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Other Topics / Indoor Physical Activity???

Looking for suggestions on easy to do indoor physical activities for a 2 year old.
I would love to follow Doman's Physical Education - but it just isn't realistic. The nearest pool is 2 hours away. It is currently -40 here so any distant walking is impossible. Again, the nearest indoor walking track or mall is 2 hours away. I am trying to get a brachiation ladder made but that is at least a month or two away. In the meantime......
I have been making some obstacle courses for us to go through during the day, but that idea is wearing out. I need some more ideas. I might go cabin crazy soon.
Simple easy ideas appreicated. Thanks.

Kimbosan, I agree with all the other posts but I will also add a 'hokey spiritual' spin as well. Positive thinking and changing your mind set from 'fall' to perhaps 'becoming the nuturer of life' might help. The book 'The Secret' has some wonderful ideas for positive thinking and postive results.
I was very lucky with my first child. My partner (42 at the time) said he could get me pregnant in one try - and he was right! I can't imagine your heartache, but I do hope a positive outcome for you.

Anyone in Canada interested in selling a used copy of Tweedlewink? I checked out the price and it just doesn't fit my budget right now, especially when I add US shipping and then crossborder fee stuff. I would be happy to purchase a used copy if anyone is interested in selling. OR I have a YBCR full English DVD set that I would be happy to trade for Tweedlewink. Send me a pm if interested. Thanks.

For every occasion so far (birthday, christmas, easter) I have given my dd a book. I find a book that suits the occasion/her development at the time and then write a special note on the inside cover. A few we read frequently and a few I have set aside for special readings only. My hope is that at least a few of these books will last for my grandkids and they can share in the special notes written on the inside cover.
Happy Birthday to your little one.

Welcome, welcome, welcome!
If money was not a constraint, I agree, get it all. It is nice to have a variety of tools to pick from when your child gets bored or uninterested in one program.
If money was a constraint.... Little Math would be my # 1 priority. I love it and it has made the BIGGEST difference in my child's math learning/teaching.

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Re: Need ideas on how to stop my 2 year old son from breast feeding

I too wouldn't mind weaning my 22 month old. But she isn't willing to self wean and I am just not up for those rough nights. She barely sleeps as it is, I couldn't even imagine how much worse it would be. To keep myself going I remind myself that 'this too shall pass in its own time in its own way'.
I am concerned about the comment about tooth decay. I try to brush and flush her teeth after every meal and then before she goes to bed. However, I am breastfeeding her at naptime and she obviously falls asleep so I am not brushing then. How much tooth decay is there at naptime? Is the risk of tooth decay better or worse than the risk of forcing a break in the bond before she is ready? Teeth vs emotions, which one wins?
