Hi luckymommy,
There are only a few places doing shichida, and given you read chinese .. your either in taiwan, malaysia or singapore. And because most of the book are wrtitten in traditional chinese my best bet is your in malaysia??
If you have already signed up for the course, sooner or later they may request that you get their maths card set and they will likely ask you to do with your child at home ..... , if you don't do it but followed GD instead ..... they will say the results may not be as food because .....dah dah dah ..... under suhc conditions since you have the privelleged of allowing yoru child to attend class ..... i want to too but they don't have it in this country .....so just stick with what you paid for .... in any case the purpose of math flashing is not so you want your child to be a genus but rather to be familiar with math ..... and when they attend school they are not so afraid .... if they have speed calculation ... that's a bonus .....
another way of looking..... whatever method you choose .... alot depends on your personal effort as parents to teach as much, and as joyfully as possible......, but don't forget play time which normally makes 70-80% of wake time. excluding feeding of course.
PS preparing the maths equation can sometimes be a killer itself ..... on top of rearranging the maths dot card .... each session

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Is baby talking or blabbling?
|
on: March 06, 2009, 04:42:51 AM

I read from some forumers and some mothers we speak to ... they claim their baby can speak and sometimes in sentences when their baby is as little as 4mth old.
They said the baby called out mama, baba, dada etc ....... It was shown that babies all over the world says those words if they can be considered proper words .... or some experts says they make those sounds .... regardless of what language they speak. Are making such noise considered as actually speaking the human language or are those simply blabbling?
Some mothers goes on to exert that their baby's make sentences at 6m .... of course to make sentences ... baby's have to understand how to structure one first .....
These subject started becoz i want to find out from fellow forumers .... what they actually consider as actually speaking or talking.... that is in words the parents can understand whatever that language maybe and able to repeat it, or it is simply making noise. Of course babies have their own language called baby talk. But according to GD most babies speak if they want to and mostly at 1.5yrs of age (in words an adult can understand).... some ealier but at 12mth ... assuming they learn only one language ...... delayed by 6m approximately if learning 2 or more language since they have to get used to the frequency or tone or pitch of that language ....

mother of faith ....
I would just like to ask ... when you say your baby talked in sentences ..... is it in english, or any other understandable language .... or is it blabble ......
Alot of confusion has been happening because alot of people wants to claim their baby can talk .... and talking means having a conversation ...... a blabble on the other hand is a one way communication, of which only one understood what is said.
EG my wife and i heard the baby said mummy, but she was 5 mths old .... and she was looking at mama when she called mummy ..... we tot we heard wrong, even though both of us heard it ..... but she did not repeat it again, in any case we teach her to call mama ......, she only called mama again when she was 7 mth .... as with papa etc while looking at us .... but she started blabbling at 5mth .... it goes on and on and on .... actually first sign of blabbling was 4 mths .... but we tot it was just the usual sound a baby make ..... but you can hear the vocab of blabbling increasing towards 11mth ...... instead of repetitive sound
Qn becomes ..... is babbling talking ....... i personally wouldn't put it as that ..... as i do not want to go around boasting ..... and people actually have no idea what the baby is talking ..... we put it as baby talk .....
Anyway according to GD, baby talks when they are ready and mostly by 1.5yrs old ..... in words we can understand .... be it english or japanese or chinese or mexican etc ..... the fastest is 12 mth but in very very simple word and those that are repetitive .....
maybe we need a new topic and figure out exactly when baby speaks and what is considered as speaking ..... or talking in 1 syllabus word or structered sentences .....
oh yeah there is a report saying baby do call baba dada mama etc at about 6 mth ..... but that is for almost every baby in the word regardless of language .... is that speaking or talking ..... anyway who knows .... someone might be saying their baby is speaking in tangs when they are 1 mth old next time ......

I have ordered the books from shichida japan ..... and much more from taiwan .....
Shichida himself admitted that he followed GD on the math except he improvished on it into a 65d program .... of course not to misunderstand 65d and your baby is a genius .... it simply means introduce him to first 50 dots and what it is, also adding + - / x etc .... the next 65d is to intro 51-100. the 3rd 65d is to intro the numerals 1-50 and the 4th 65d is numeral 51-100. Shichida works mainly on flashing quickly and a multitude of diagrams and pics etc ... to help activate your so called right brain.
I did not use his method but instead i use GD methods.... if you cannot use Shichida method due to time, resource constrain etc you may not have the so called same result, and worst you may end up fustrated and may break the important rule of teaching....relax and having fun .....
I took my time doing maths dot with my child and is already doing numerals equation ... and my child enjoys just as much and answering them correctly ..... choose a pace suitable for your child ..... previously i gone too fast and too much .... she got fed up and purposefully answered wrongly ..... so i relaxed took it fun, and less testing .... and she starts to enjoy it and is very happy to answer them correctly ..... (when i say take my time i don't mean doing it slowly, i mean i don't follow 65d to finish certain set, now i do when she and i are happy and want to learn, and i find we actually cover more and faster than thr 65d thing, but of course the begining is a bit harder)
I think key is understand your resources, energy, ability, and also to understand your child's tempament and make a module suitable for your child ..... without forgetting the basic rule or 1 second or less per card, prepare well ahead, and enjoy .....
ps for a 1 yr old to do 3-4 step multi equation is not too bad already ..... speed would come with time ......
anyway shichida's kids success stories are shown on website .... but they are success stories what about the non succesful ones or average joes? and most of the videos i saw well the child are like 4-5yr olds ... unlike what they said for 2yr old etc .....
pps .... not everybody is born a math genius ...., observe your child and see where their talent lies .... and cultivate it ....

According to Doman, crawling was and is suppose to help develop the breathing and hence the lung of the baby .... with developed lungs .... deeper breath etc .... the baby is supposed to be able to develop speech faster ....... ie speaking faster than other babies ....
as for other official reports i read cross crawling like a cat or dog, is spposed to help the child coordinate walking etc ....., espcially on physical activities ..... also it mentioned that those who skip crawling often confuse right from left ......
Perhaps that is for some individuals ......
what i do is put my child on the foam mat, and me laying down with her, sometimes acting like the big elephant or horse, i nudge her with my head pushing her to move .... she likes it alot and tries to move or follow my action or sometimes to chase me ..... she started crawling around 5mth .... on the baby walker by 6mth still with crawling of course, and she started walking on her own at 11th ...... of course we still have play time where we act out crawling .... espcially when i set up obstacles crawling under them etc ..... she is strong as an ox or elephant for that matter .....and at 13-14 mths likes to run too ..... and she has a very very loud forceful voice .... no need loudspeakers .... nothing to do with right brain or reading or what have you .....
ps nothing to do with trinity above

I actually noticed this product ealy last yr, but only got it earlier this yr due to sold out.
my girl likes the flashing initially, but as i have been doing for about a yr, she is 1yr 2mths now, she tends to catch on very fast and get bored thereafter, ..... this is for the flashing part to get used to the word and picture thing ... you can say its abit like the brill kids flashing program except no video ..... picture quality is good, although when i played it on the 42inch lcd tv the picture overall was still small .......... so maybe a 22 inch would do ......
as for the follow the dot it practice on visual .....tracing the pattern that it formed and to choose the pattern subsequently ..... hmmm i think she will only use it when she is about 2 or 3 when she understands more about the pattern ..... but ..... if there is touch screen i think it would be better ......, also if she is too young like now, she would probably be distracted and busy banging on my laptop keyboard .......
the memory linking picture thingy, she likes the storey but have no idea what it means, ......i mean the meaning of the picture on each card ...... so i think she will start using that when she is 2+ to 3yrs old .....
so you can say the cd you can use over many yrs .... just that in each yr you could probably use it for 1-2 weeks or months ..... until your baby is able to catch up in other developmental sense for you to explain the game to play the game succesfully ...... once she starts to play the game succesfully, like al games she may get bored once she get the hold of it ..... or if it proves to be too difficult for her .....
however i bot the cd not because of the games per se ..... but because of the encyclopedia data they have .... i think 350 or so flash cards with bits of intelligence behind .... hmm though i found some mistakes behind ....., so best to take a mental note of it, so what i do is make a hardcopy and do hands on with my child ...... as a form of reading habit for her to hear more english .... of course its not like she understands the meaning but ..... to actualy get use to english ...... this is on top of the usual word and picture flashing ..... anyway its a good source of high quality pictures...... and then subsequently you can add chinese, japanese or french .....by printing the word behind the picture ....
i think its a small sum to pay for the encyclopedia knowledge part the rest its add on ........ the games ......well best played using a touch pad hand held ....... at least for me ..... if using speed memory ...

I am sorry i tried many ways trying to think write and rewrite how best to reply ..... but i do not wish to offend or sound presumptious. So i will simply say try understanding theory of relativity, do some deep buddhism studies, and get as much shichida books as possible. Your personal life experience if your open enough would guide you with the rest.
The other qn we have to ask is what really is this new hype ...."Right Brain". Is it simply the grey matter that sits in our right hemisphere of our skull? What is its ability? Is flashing card the only way to communicate with it? Or are we only tapping on source of it. I mean selling the idea of baby can read is already pretty hard with last generation, but with time it slowly becomes more acceptable, wow baby's can read. But it took him almost 50 yrs. I doubt they are going to be ready for shichida's right brain. If done wrongly, it could be labelled and condemned by those who fear it, creating a witch hunt. Same thing i guess GD may have suffered in their initial stages.
I would simply say GD simply scratches the surface of right brain, but its the best we have, its tested its open, and in the 21st century its acceptable. We simply just started thinking our baby's aren't just cry babies wailing away and waiting to be fed. And GD is smart by limiting it, he knows it would be more easily acceptable by the all fearing public. Shichida method you need guidance otherwise .... anyway i doubt i can do it, so i wouldn't bother teaching my girl using shichida method...., except to learn how to focus and meditate.... anyway if you understand ESP, power of suggestion, visions, telekinetic.... and more you would know what i mean. But then again .... its not everybody who has that inborn ability .... even if you go thru 10 yrs of shichida method .... so to be safe stick to GD.

Hi Zaja,
Most of the books are written in traditional chinese and are from taiwan printers. You can get them in taiwan or hong kong. Although it is not that easy to find initially unless you know shichida's chinese name and not many book retailers heard of it.
In singapore, they do have too but limited titles, but its also in traditional chinese. Singapore shichida school doesn't help much too, they would just tell you to go ...... look for them yourself in the local bookstore without telling you that it's mainly in traditional chinese.
I have over 10 TC shichida books from fetus education to how to feed the baby right and its methodology and how to steps .... but as like GD more than half the book is about his concept and his belief .... so trying to source the DIY for parents ... unfortunately maybe limited.... probably half of it can be found in the books the other half .... held only in their class .... but the gees of the class is in how to conduct a succesful class so that the child can learn vs learning itself .... you can flash but the child isn't absorbing.....
oh i also have a few other books binded by shichida japan in english specially ordered from their acedemy in japan for cross referencing .... its about the same written in TC. Except those written in TC covers a wider range and concept .... if you can read TC i recommend as much as you can get your hands on .... as its pretty wide from pregnancy to toddlers.
Oh yeah to give a few observation, shichida is about learning how to learn, so that subsequently you can aquire knowledge easily like speed or wave reading ..... but acquiring knowledge is just one aspect of right mind, whereas GD is about input of info or knowledge ...., but both emphasies joyous learning environment ..... i believe GD copied some from shichida, and shichida copied some like math from GD. There is another observation, shichida emphasis a good heart to be a better person thru power of suggestion, GD on the other hand cold hard knowledge .... i would say shichida is the real right mind program .... GD treats the right mind as a hard disk to store as much info as possible ....
but of course the real question is "what really is the right mind to you"?

EQ IQ MQ whatever ...... its important to teach them how to be a human being ... a good person from the heart .... with love and compassion ... our job as parents is to love them and teach or guide them and maximise whatever potential that they may subscribe to .....
Anyway sometimes too much of a good thing or genes .... may result in offsprings going off the tree .... why bother comparing ..... to qoute a character ....."Life is like a box of chocolate, you ......."

If i may .......
It's a concept i subscribed too since a teenager ..... it also greatly depends on what your personal belief in life is .... after reading slightly over 10 books by shichida i would possibly say that it has something to do with theory of relativity by you know who and buddhism. It requires deep understanding of the later unfortunately ... not just the shallow approach .....
I am sorry, I shan't go further than to recommend understanding the 2 first before you would actually understand the crux of shichida .... my wife was confused initialy reading the loads of shichida books .... but i was able to explain the concept on why shichida says what he says based on the understanding of the 2 above, that she grasp the meaning of shichida .... although she finds it absolutely abstract....
Unfortunately .... it requires a special skill ..... and only a like being can spark another .... and not everybody has that gift.
The thing you have to ask yourselve is this ...... if your child has his other eye open (metaphorically speaking)..... he may lose his ambition in life ... or that animal instinct or beating the competitors .... climbing to the top of the animal kingdom .... yes he would be outstanding ... but not to achieve fame or wealth or power it will no longer interest him ..... so if your thinking of training him to be a genius using the shichida method hoping that he will be some big CEO honchos.... you might be dissapointed. Anyway you might not be succesful if you do not have that based shichida talked about. Sorry i shan't go any further least it be misconstrued the good intentions of shichida.

B+ is a 1 hr 2 session thingy ...... we still have it, keeping it for the next one in a few yrs time ..... i hope ....
its low rythem beats that gets progressively faster and more complex that works the baby brains or subcon....
but then again its whether you believe in it or not, but its not the ultimate ... as i often tell my wife ....., the basic needs to be gotton right first, a good temperament, a controlled expression and joyous light hearted mode would be best for the fetus .... the B+ is an added tool on top of it ..... if you can't control your feelings giving hormones etc as excuses .... B+ would not be as effective .....
i have seen some babies whose mother did not use B+ but the mothers are very well controlled ..... and the babies temperament was excellent ..... ( I know becoz some of them are my relatives and i can compare among all my cousins and nephews which stretch over 30, me being the oldest among the batch and B+ wasn't even invented yet.)

We used B+ too, but as this is my first child we could not compare but compared to friends who have children and some at the same age she is relatively calmer ..... and she is developing slightly faster than others .... but then again it could be all the stimulation i have been giving her too .....
she likes kicking or swinging her legs .... to some rythem or sth that only she can hear ..... a friend said a happy baby would kick her legs .... but ... she does that sometimes when she is being fussy ..... she does cry, have colic etc, she does become fussy and irritated. But my mum says its much much lesser..... well for new parents like me i wouldn't know .... she isn't totally very difficult to handle ... but she response well .... especially when you let her be ... and she really has a mind of her own ..... and she will protest if she ain't happy to go along with it ...... but generally a happy baby
However, if depending on B+ alone i doubt it would be enough, the mother carrying the child must essentially be stable, emotionally, physically, psychologically etc ... meditation is good as well as classical .... it is also said that stress is good but not over stress .... stress releases certain chemicals .... and this is supposingly to help teach the fetus to respond to it .... but toomuch stress may overwhelm .... moderation is best ....
