EARLY LEARNING / Homeschooling / Re: Who's fault is it???

It's really shocking and it's quite sad to know that. I am base in Singapore and I know that the education system here also causing kids a lot of stress and the parents here also very "kiasu" (afraid of failure). I don't see kids enjoy learning and treat gaining knowledge as a joy for self-improvement. I try to make my kids have fun while learning as much as possible as I know kids or human learn best when they enjoy it. Homeschooling need a lot of effort from the parents but I think it will suite the kids best as they learn in their own pace. The down side of homeschooling is that your kids will have less time socialize. Try to bring he/she out as much as possible to gain some socializing skill All the best to you and your family Agnesdecham

Hi,
Ooops I left out something, I even used colour play dough to let her learn the colours. Now she already knew what is primary colours (yellow, blue and red) and what is secondary colours (green, purple and orange). She can even tell you their combination such as yellow + blue is green - as I had let her mix the yellow and blue dough together and see what the colours turn out by letting her trying out on her own (this will really enhance her memory - you learn when you do it on your own). I tried them using water colour too =) ! Have fun!

BEYOND EARLY LEARNING (for older years) / General Discussions - After Early Learning / Re: Wink Program - Right Brain Kids

Hi THen, I do have the Wink program but have no time to start them yet. I bought it for my own as my girl is only coming to 3 years old. As the Wink Program is more targeting for those who is dominant in left brain (> 6 years old) that they can get activated their right brain again. They do mention that (if I remember correctly), parents who are a right brain teacher can teach a child better and this is the reason why I bought the product - to activate my right brain again. Although I had not start the program yet, but I did used their Memory Train which is a linking memory in Shichida class as my girl is attending the shichida lesson. The memory train is use to memorize a lot of items or cards which is not related by creating funny stories and my girl now can remember up to almost 70 cards. You can tried to take their online course for wink program before decide to purchase the product. Here's the link: http://www.rightbrainkids.com/training/ Agnesdecham

Hi Zoe22, You can try to go to this link to download the colour file that I created http://forum.brillkids.com/downloads/?sa=view;id=6189 I think it's quite good as you can learn both the colour and the spelling at the same time. Other than that, try to make learning colour in a song as kids learn best when they do enjoy it. In the shichida class, the teacher sing the ROY G BIV (treat as a name) songs and that's how my girl learn the colours of the rainbow in the right sequence. R- Red O - Orang Y - Yellow G - Green B - Blue I - Indigo V - Violet Try to be creative and your kids will be have lots of fun while learning! Agnesdecham

Hi Shen-Li, Thanks for such an informative sharing. My kid had been joining shichida classes since she was 12 months old. I really feel great that I admit her to the class as I was really impress for her achievement =) She manage to remember 50 pictures card of linking memory story last 2 months after 1 months of practice. Most importantly I knew that she learn everything in a fun and joyful way which is what all the parents wanted to. By practicing together with my kids, I am also learning and I can see the improvement on me. Enjoy right brain training!

Thanks for sharing the stories. It really touch my heart. I felt myself exhausted taking care of my normal child but here I see all the great parents putting all their efforts, loves, times and everything they have for their kids and I found myself so tiny. Thanks again to all of you, I am really motivated to what you all had done and I know I can do more for my kids and love them unconditionally. Thanks again .....

Parents' Lounge / General Pregnancy / Re: Pros and Cons of Caesarea Birth for the Baby and for the Mother

Thanks skylark for such an informative facts. I myself went through c-section and it's really out of my choice as my baby was in a breech position. I even persuaded the doctor to turn the baby manually so that I can have natural birth but the doctor mentioned that it was too risky and the umbilical cord might strangle the neck. So, I have no choice but to go for c-section. The whole process was not very comfortable especially when they wanted me to bend in a certain way so that they can inject the anesthesia into my back and I also experiencing chilling after the surgery - in which it is a side effect of the drug. After the c-section, I have also difficulty in feeding my baby as you could hardly sit up and breast feed but have to lie on sideway to breastfeed your baby. I even encountered my wound opening and went back to stitch back the wound. It's quite a bad experience for me. OPT FOR NATURAL - IT'S ALWAYS THE BEST! Agnes
