Congratulations, and good job, I know what you're feeling, I had no words to describe what I felt when my daughter read her first word: hand. I wanted everyone to see the reading, but she did not read to any one, then everyone started to make fun of me. Nobody believed I was going to make my daughter read. Know every body just chat up. Congratulations again.

I had the same problem with my daughter, so we started with powerpoint, after a while, she no longer pays attention (I did not see results) it was concerned by the images and not by words, today what I do is paste the words on the wall. I read again and again the words to her (as in a game) after she read to me, I'm currently doing 10 words a day for a week. next year I'll start giving them to small classes of encyclopedic knowledge.

EARLY LEARNING / Early Learning - General Discussions / Re: Effect of Early Learning when Child Reaches School

I know that in the United States there are special schools for children who are advanced, but I do not know which and the requirement that the child can go to those schools. I live in Virginia in the United States and have taught my daughter to read from 8 months (without success in the beginning) now she can read 44 words in Portuguese, some in English and some Spanish. but my husband started to worry and said I should teach more English than Portuguese, since we live in a country whose language and English. If I continue to teach Portuguese, and encyclopedic knowledge in Portuguese, will she have problem when I start school? I do not want to homeschooling my children because I believe that I am not able because I have no discipline. And if I teach in English, how do I deal with the situation that she entered the school already know? I'm really confused.

I read an article other day saying that one should not teach a baby to read because they record the image and not learn to read. After all the experience I see parents going here in the forum, I came to conclusion that this person certainly has no kids, or is lazy.

I asked my friend and biologist working in genetics, and she said yes, and that if you are smart, has a son and stimulates your child when your child has children, they tended to be more intelligent. But if you are smart and create your child in a bubble, his intelligence will be limited in which he lives.

Congratulations marimari, I know how hard should be... I did not want to do with my kids, but the doctor said if they get the flu, that could be so dangerous...And she even said that if he was not treated timely, it could even have died.

I agree with you marimari, My baby cried a lot when he stars tommy time. But they don't like, that is normal. If you do not feel prepared, wait a little longer, otherwise, show him all your love, let he know you are there... texaslary22
