Great idea. Would you have a sample letter which I could use (modifying it a little obviously?)

I too would like a sample letter two look at if possible. I would probably write the wrong thing and it would need to be perfectly written for a government program.

My daughter goes to bed in her cot during the day and when she goes to bed at night. Then when she wakes at around 3am in the morning for a breastfeed, she comes to bed with us and stays there til we get up in the morning. This can be quite uncomfortable for me as she tends to take up a bit of space, and keeps wriggling closer to me in her sleep til she has some part of her body touching me. This means I cant move...and I need to move to sleep.

I dont believe in letting my child cry herself to sleep so I cant just place her in the cot as I would not get any sleep...plus she and I would get stressed...

As she gets a bit older I will put her in her toddler bed which she likes a lot more than her cot. She will still sleep in our room and I dont know when she will get her own room, we will see...

Yes, that is a great idea...

I wonder if we could do a petition, send it around and get everyone from australia to sign it, then send it in.

Hopefully they will sit up and listen if enough of us want it.

I accidently slipped out one day that I was doing flash cards with my daughter as I was used to being around people who understood. Big mistake...the person I was talking to got really serious and said, TIMEOUT!! even signing it for greater understanding  >

She said that I should be teaching my child nursery rhymes and games like 'pat a cake'. She also said that I should cut pictures out of magazines with the word on them?? I was just thinking...well...whats the different between that and my flash cards which have the word and a picture on back?

I was not given a chance to explain how much my daughter loved it, and that I was playing games with her, I can do more than one thing. I play nursery rhymes with her, read lots and lots of books with her, let her watch one educational dvd a day, for no longer than 30min, and most of all she loves it. The attention she is getting from me, and the chance to use her brain.

It is true that you learn words from reading books that you might not know/learn otherwise. I learned a lot of the words I know today from books. Some of them I am not even sure how to pronounce still as I have never heard them said out loud but I do know what they mean and look like when I see them.

Hi I have breastfed my daughter completely and still am as she still isnt eating much food. She will eat on and off, but due to teething pains isnt really interested.

I grow my own food and just blended it up with water for my daughter when she was younger, now she just eats the same as us modified...lots of vegies

I use cloth nappies on my daughter but during the day I will sit her on the potty after meals or a breastfeed just to get her used to it. Which also saves on nappies.

Hi my daughter is 12 months old and we are not potty training as yet although I will sit her on the potty when I go to the toilet so that she is comfortable with it and learns what it is about.

My mum told me that when she was toilet training me and my siblings (there are 5 of us) she started at around 12 months by getting us used to the potty and sitting down long enough to do something as I'm sure you know what toddlers are like always on the move.

As we got older she would give us our meals and then put us on the potty with a drink. If we did something in the potty she would show us that we had done something in there and tell us what it was.

All of my siblings and I were toilet trained completely, day and night, by 2 years of age.

Some people said that my mum did it all wrong and it was too early but it worked, people say that it is wrong to be teaching my child to read this early but I dont believe it is.

I will do as my mum did as I know that it works. I also have heard that it can take a little bit longer for boys to be toilet trained. The best thing is to not force it, just let it happen naturally so that the child doesnt get scared of going to the toilet/potty.

Hi my daughter got her first two teeth a day before she was 5 months old. At 11 months of age she had 9 teeth and now at 12 months she has 16. 8 top and 8 bottom. She only has last 4 molars to get. This has been the hardest time for her. I was just wondering how many other parents out there have had babies with almost all their teeth at this age. Also how many teeth did they get at once? and how did your baby deal with it? Cheers.

Thanks for that. It is amazing some of the abilities that people have. I wish that my parents had given me more chances to learn as a child as trying to learn now as an adult is a lot harder.

Will definitely be teaching my child perfect pitch so that if she wants to have a career in music she will have a head start.

Just curious but how do u know if u have perfect pitch? I can hear a note played and then sing that same note perfectly. have never had any training so not sure if that is what is meant by perfect pitch.
