I think my daughter is near there too, I have had several similar situations when she would say part of a written word, but i always thought no no it must be an accident. I guess I still can't believe that they do learn so fast and I am very afraid of testing her, I tried to put two cards in front of her and ask which one says let's say "monkey", but she would just pick up both, or start turning them to see pictures, but wouldn't point or say it, or do something else as if she know that i am trying to test her. Although she wouldn't do it with red dots, she loves them and does point to the one which has the amount i tell her, only up to 10 so far though.

Hallo Mammamia! I am struggling with the same question! I am also Russian, my husband is Iranian and we all speak English, so my daughter, now almost 1 and a half does speak all three languages well for her age (more than 150 words, starts saying couplets and short sentances) plus a few words in Arabic since we live in an Arabic country. I have started using LR with her since she was about 6 months old, not very systematically, on and off, but she loves it. I decided to stick to only Russian and English for reading (for now) and introduce Arabic and Farsi a bit later, as they have similar alphabet. In the beginning I showed both English and Russian togather, but now I am also wondering that probably I should have kept them in separate sessions. That's what I am trying to do now. I am not sure if she can read, she is scanning every word very carefully and she did learn saying a lot of words from LR, so it is definitely a big advantage to use it in any case.
I would like to ask other people, esepciall Maddy and KL to share their experience in teaching their kids to read.  Also Maddy can speak Russian, I was wondering  if she is teaching Nim to read Russian? What are the signs that they CAN read?

Yey, my daughter loves flowers and butterflies too  More insects I guess, would be good: ladybugs, grasshoppers, spiders, etc. Fish, birds, any animals, books, more toys: dolls, bunnies, turtles, etc. please.

Hallo, everyone! The LM is really great! I can't believe my little one is looking at the screen! She loves reading words in the Little Reader, but red dots didn't impress her even when flashed very fast, but now she does pay attention!  The only thing I can't figure out is how to retire cards from it if I want to go according to Doman's method. Maybe this question was there before but I missed it. Please, help.

Да, Диана, это точно насчет достижений и подбрасывания в топку! У нас аналогичная ситуация Особенно ее удивляет когда ее другие люди просят что-то продемонстрировать из того, что она уже давно умеет делать и начинают восхищаться и хвалить ее. она так недоуменно на них смотрит, как будто говорит что это же так легко 
Очень рада приветствовать Reggie84 и Ольга! Программа - действительно замечательная, если есть вопросы будем рады помочь разобраться. Ольга я бы на вашем месте не беспокоилась насчет смешения языков, так как вы живете в Москве и она будет хорошо знать русский и людей, с которыми она будет говорить только по -русски тоже много, так что смело переходите с ней на английский. Моя доченька учит сразу 4 языка, поэтому я стараюсь говорить только по -русски, так как больше ее учить русскому некому. Конечно первоначально они будут выбирать те слова, которые им легче произнести, но в итоге, они будут отлично значть все языки, так что смешение это только временное явление.
Reggie 84 , насчет нажимания всех кнопок!  Это часть той радости обучения, которую просто никак не избежать! Мудрые создатели этой программы предусмотрели и это. Самый лучший вариант (из нашего опыта) - создавать playlist  и в опциях playback  есть кнопки autoforward  и only esc key, в таком случае вам нужно только следить, чтобы она не добралась до esc!

Thank you, Maddy and everyone else for sharing this information. It's great to compare and try to use all the techniques available to teach our little ones reading! I was amazed at how teaching native reading is appealing and actually is natural! I can recall that my parents were using many of these techniques teaching me to read although they did not know anything about Kailing! And I have also naturally done that with  my daughter (like spelling her name with magnet letters, etc.)! I am so happy I have found this site! Thank you very much for creating this wonderful program and forum! and the point about books that Diana mentioned is very important. It is really hard to find good books with large font and pictures and text on different pages. I've notices that there are 3 new books available for download at the brillkids site now. That's really a good start, I wish there were more and in different languages! How about a new contest for creating new books in different languages?

Привет всем! Извиняюсь, что пропала на время, очень заняты были.
Диана, насчет нескольких языков мнений конечно очень много, но я придерживаюсь принципа Доумана, что дети - лингвистические гении. Да и к тому же у меня есть друзья, дети которых растут в многонациональных семьях и прекрасно владеют 3-4мя а то и более языками. Так что в своей дочурке я тоже не сомневаюсь. Ей сейчас 15 месяцев и она говорит уже около 20 слов, большинство английских, так как они короче и проще, но есть и несколько на русском, фарси и даже арабском. Понимает она равно хорошо на русском, английском и фарси. Little Reader я решила использовать в основном для обучения русскому, так как английский она и так постоянно слышит, любит смотреть детские песни на DVD (Baby songs)  и Barney, к тому же она стала ходить в ясли и там тоже все на английском, так что я больше переживаю за ее русский, так как кроме меня ее учить некому. Переживаю, как бы не получилось как у Нади со старшими детками, так как русскоговорящих у нас в окружении очень мало, и бабушка с дедушкой тоже далеко. А как ваши успехи, Диана? Божена уже читает на украинском? Мне кажется, что моя доченька уже начинает различать буквы, но пока еще открыто этого не демонстрирует, интересно а у кого-нибудь уже есть детки, которые читают? поделитесь опытом, мне очень интересно как это работает на примере русского языка. Таня, а ваши девочки читают на русском? Я так поняла, младшей только 9 месяцев, а старшей?
