EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: How to make my son read??? Your experience and tips, please

I made books for each boy just from mommy (that helps a lot from mommy) could you please write her whole/ correct nick. I've tried to find her here and to have a look at her works but there're tons of MOMMY nicks at the site:) if he can't recognize the letters yet then that is your first key, once the letter concepts comes then the sounds then reading. I take my cues from Doman method. And there's absolutely contrary approach. whole word --> letters. And moms who've got success with Doman's method say the same thing: their children learned to read words at first and then to recognize letters. I have a fun game for learning verbs. Sure, there must be a game during the studying.

I've made one game for today. We'll see:) But is it wright that we'll be match pictures with words if he CAN NOT read?? Whether is it just drilling, not understanding?? It;s just like a miracle to see other children read from an outsider's viewpoint. Maybe I too hurry?? But 4 months of our work are useless, it seems... There is no progress. I just need a tiny hint he absorbs the material I give him... It'd help me not to lose a confidence of further success

Hello everybody! I asked this question in one of topics but I'd repeat it. My 3y.8m son doesn't read at all. We read (I mean presentations with words, then short texts and verses) since May. But it's about 4 months of actual time. We read paper books also every day with rare exceptions. How should his ability to read display? I see he can;t recognize words at all, even short. How did you "make" your kids show they can read?? Did they begin by themselves? How that happend? How many time should pass before a child starts to read words? sentences? What additional means you use? games (what kind of)? what else? It's interesting for me concerning children older than 2 y/o who can speak good already. I think it;s my fault and 'm losing assurance I can teach him... And I wonder what exactly I do wrong.

You have to play lots of word games with your child besides reading with him. Repitition is also key to learning. They need lots of repitition to learn. I recommend the website www.earlylearningathome.com for you. Agnes is a very professional child care teacher as well as a very loving mum. You'll get lots of ideas from her videos. Hi, Mable!! Thanks a lot for your piece of advice. I'm going to have a look at this site right now. Yes, I feel that we need to play some word games but I couldn't think of what kind of them.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child - Signing, Speaking, Languages / Unusual offer, I think:)

I want my child to learn English. But as I do not sure if my pronunciation is good I offer a language exchange. You who is interested in Russian language, record some words I need in English in audio files. And I do the same in Russian for you - record some words you need. I'd prefer an English native-speaking person of course because I want a natural pronunciation. Is anybody interested in?

Hello there! I'm new here and have to say it's a great place! So much new and useful info! I want my children to learn reading in mother tongue plus learning English (we are Russians) throuh Doman method. Now, can anybody say me if there mishmash in kids' heads?? How should I organize the process? In native language I show flash cards with words only and read them. In English I show a picture then a word with sound of it. Is it right to teach both of these things in the same time? How do you do this? And I'm interested very much if somebody who attended Doman's classes answer me.
