It is not common (it is very unusual and to be honest not sure if allowed ) to homeschool in Czech republic. I admire all of you that have decided to do so and do a good job. I am not sure if I would be able to ... even if it was allowed here .....

Parents' Lounge / General Pregnancy / Re: Keeping your baby in your room inmediately after birth

When I took the hospital tour I asked about everything. They told me that could do almost anything if they know what mothers want. But the problem was that mothers usually do not tell what they want and then they complain if something is not as they wanted.. So I told them what I want and even if it was not a regular procedure of the hospital, they let me.. I asked to have the skin to skin contact IMMEDIATELY after birth and they let me even if it is not a common practice. I asked to have the baby with me on my room even the first night (they usually takes the babies for the first night to the nursery romm so mothers can rest after delivery) but I insisted on having baby with me all the time, even the first night. And they let me. I am used to ask for what I want and it is well worth it!!!! The answers: 1. Vaginal birth 2. Skin to skin contact within seconds after birth (for about 5 minutes), then nursing within 30 minutes 3. Baby was with me in the same room for about 2 hours after birth, than we both moved to another room where we were together all the time.

My first baby was born in USA - Caesaren (planned, because of assumption of too big baby), I had the baby for few minutes after birth but tehn the baby was given to try breastfeeding to me 4 hours after birth. I week after birth I got breast infection so I could not breasteed. I pumped my milk a gave it to the baby with a bottle for about 2 weeks. After then everything was OK and I happily breastfed until her 3 years of age. My second baby was born in Czech republik, vaginal birth laying down without epidural or any other help. I asked to have a baby immediately after birth (not cleaned yet), so we had skin to skin contact and time for bonding within seconds. Then they examined the baby and examined me (because of previous C-section) and gave the baby to my within about 30 minutes (dad was holding the baby in meantime). Then my baby was nursing for about an hour. Then I asked to have my baby in the room with me (I gave a birth at 6:20 pm) overnight (which is not usual in our hospital) but they let me if I insisted. I am very happy mainly with my second bitthing experience.

Pokud to tedy nějak jde, prosím poraďte.

A učit dítko číst česky. Dekuji

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Re: starting at 3 months

on: February 08, 2011, 03:55:30 PM

Actually the sooner you start the better - the easier your baby will learn. I have almost 3 months old baby and I thought it was good to start with regular reading and math programs at the age of 3 months. I just figured out - reading Domans book and recommendation on the internet - that I could have started earlier (I have stimulated babys vision with black and white (and red) flashcards so her vision is now mature enough. So I immediately started all programs a few days ago even if my baby is not 3 months old yet....

BrillKids Software / Little Reader - General Discussion / Re: LR-First slide (title) of a category
|
on: February 08, 2011, 12:06:05 PM

Thank you for your answer. I understand what you are explaining me and I am able to do it. But what I need is: To have a category of part of the body with 20 words for different parts of the body. But as Glenn Doman recommends, I want to show a baby only 5 of the words 3 times a day, always randomly. The next day I need to retire (remove) one of the words and add a new one. And show that to the child 3 times that day. This procedure follows as many days as I have more words to add (and always retire one old to have 5 of them to show in random order). Since LR has not this feature of easily retiring and adding new words, I thought creating playlists would solve that for me. So I create a playlist for each day, removing 1 old word and adding 1 new to the existing group withing 1 category. I wish I could show at the beginning of the lesson a title (Parts of the body). So the playlists and the categories would have theese words FOR EXAMPLE Category title: Parts of the body Category words: Head, arm, shoulder, hair, eye, belly, hair, finger, toes,.... Playlist Day 5: Head, arm, shoulder, hair, eye, Playlist Day 6: arm, shoulder, hair, eye, belly, Playlist Day 7: shoulder, hair, eye, belly, hair, Playlist Day 8: eye, belly, hair, finger, toes
Cann this be done with a title at the beggining?

Thank you for your reply but this is what I know and what I have done already. As I mentioned in my previous post, the title works for me if I play the category. But if I create a playlist and include the title word as well, I expect it to play always first. But it does not. It plays ramdomly the same way as I requested the other word files to play randomly. So from your explanation I understand that the word file checked in the category as a title is suppposed to play first also in the playlist ONLY if I add the category to the playlist as ALL. If I want to add all words from category by highlighting all of them and adding to the category, it would not work??? I need to create a playlist for 5 words from some category (that has e.g. 10 words) but with title playing first. Another playlist would retire one of the words and add a new one from the same category, AGAIN with the title playing first and slides randomly.... Thanky you.... Martina
