EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Need someone to interpret the basics in a music sheet
|
on: July 25, 2013, 03:54:20 PM

Hi, recently just started to attend music lesson with my kid. We were taught in class the semibreve, dotted minim, minim, crochet symbol and counts. However, I am still not sure how is this going to appear in the music sheet. I have attached a music sheet that was given in class.. but I hope anyone can explain the things(symbols ,, notes,.. treble clef etc... ) that are on this music sheet including the very basic ones as I have really no music background but I am eager to learn. I am really unsure how should I play this song on the keyboard... how long should I hold the each key and how to read the notes. Thanks in advance

Hi,
need someone to interpret the "things" on this music sheet. I've just begin to learn music with my kid. I came across words & symbols like semibreve, dotted minim, minim, crotchet but still very unsure about the term and how are they going to appear in the music sheets. Hope someone can base on the attached "Hot Cross Buns" to explain about the music basic.
Thanks in advance:)

Hi,
I would like to teach my kid how to place her finger correctly on the keyboard. I just taught her how to play London bridge is falling down using CDEF but with only index finger. Is there any site or any resources that teach where each finger is to press on which key?
Thanks!

Hi I came across this CMA.. and would like to hear from those who had experience or know about this course. I have also worries that the kids get mixed up with the counting methods in school in a later part since this is different way of doing counting from school?
Is it good to start at 3.5yo?
Thanks in advance...

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Yamaha or Christofori
|

Hi, anyone here got send kid for their 3.5yo class? Currently there are Yamaha "New music wonderland" and Christofori "Little Mozart".. I haves checked that Yamaha requires parent to accompany and in group of 10. They are music appreciaion, singing etc not very much on instrument.. However for Christofori at this age, they will learn notes like C,D,F etc... and they will have the LM Piano and other percussion instrument to play , they are in a group of 4 only, but no parent accompany.
I am in a dilema which to send my kid to . She is coming to 3.5yo.. Anyone can advise?
I do not have music background...

These few days , she refused to take afternoon nap either... although i can see her feeling tired. But i don't really push her to take nap now... hopefully she can take an early sleep at night. And it works... yesterday she slept at 9.30pm and wakes up at 8.30pm this morning. In total per day she sleeps about 11 hours. Is this too little for a 2.75mths kid?

Parents' Lounge / General Parenting / Do you let your child choose the time to sleep at night?

Hi, I need advise here.. My kid is 2.75months old. Starting 2 weeks ago, she refuses to go to her bed at night. She said she doesn't want to go to bed... Either she wants to go to another room for reading or stays at the living room. I can see that she is tired, but she just doesn't want to go to sleep... How she finally sleep?? ...Well , she will tire herself enough and fall asleep on the couch.... she just doesn't want to fall asleep on bed. That makes me really tired too as she does not allow me to lie down while she does her own stuff and wants me to read to her or accompany her ,... thus i have to be with her till she sleeps ... thats around 12+ to 1am+.. Last night, i tried to put her on the cot bed at around 10.30pm hoping to use a false kind of method to make her sleep. However , i was not successful... she cried and cried pleaded so pitifully that she wants to come out of her bed. She cried and screamed and i let her out after 30mins of crying I'm not sure how should i do so that she won't feel i am not caring about her ? Should i allow her to choose her sleeping time and place to sleep or should i use the false method hopfully one day she will be tired of pleading and stay at her bed? Help please. Thanks.

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Music / Re: Label the keyboard, Printing Flashcards inline with Little Musician Teaching

oh ya.. i have put the white Do Re Mi stickers starting from the middle C.. (Do to Do - 8 keys only) , will change into coloured ones after i got the coloured ones. My keyboard has 36 white keys, do i need to label all the keys? After i put the stickers , i showed her LMs Trial again.. and she pressed Do Mi So La Ti Do when it appears and after the lesson she keeps pressing Do Mi So, La Ti Do and sing along .. i casually asked her the color for Do Mi and So and she told me correctly! (i checked back the system) .. I am quite surprised as i myself can't remember as i didn't pay attention to the colours but she does. Thanks MummyRoo and Mandab!
