EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Flashcards for young babies
|
on: March 13, 2011, 11:47:21 PM

Hi, I have just started using flashcards with my 7 mths old and am not sure if I should use them like we should and retire them once he has seen them 10-15 times. Is that really enough for him to learn the word and won't he forget it as it will be months before he starts talking? Obviously he isn't reading yet. Any tips on what others have done/experienced would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Michael, thank you so much for the post and the discount code. My son is 7 mths but I really liked the product, love the idea of the words on the scene, like the incy wincy song in YBCR. I'm in Australia and I notice you don't ship here so I think I will look into the downlaod version. I'm not good with IT so I'm not sure how that works but will look into it and hopefully be able to purchase them, they are so cheap! And even more so now (thanks!) And I loved your website and how you talk about having a passion for what you do and not being a salesperson. I'll defintiely spread the word about your product - LOVE IT!!

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child to Read / Best Reading Products?

Hi, thought I'd start a thread to see what reading products people like and if you could share the reasons why. And maybe even the cons of some products. What made me think of this is that I have bought a few products and have spent a fair bit of money already and some have been great and others not so much.
For me I love LR as it's quick and only takes less than 5 minutes a day which is great for my 7 mth old who lost interest in YBCR very quickly. Also love how the word fonts change and that you can customerise it which helps when you are in Australia and we don't use words such as diaper and pacifier.
I also love Monkisee, especially the parents guide to teaching babies to read. If anything I would recommend buying this as there are so many tips on how to teach your baby without spening alot of money.
Look forard to hearing what others like.

My son is now almost 7mths and never took a bottle. I tried every brand on the market and he just wouldn't take one! I just weaned him at 4.5mths and now only feed him twice a day and express some milk and use that in his solids. I know it is draining when they won't take a bottle but just know that it will get easier in the next few months

I didnt do the CIO method until my son was 5 and half mths olds. Make sure your baby is well fed as I also increased his solids to half a cup 3 times a day which sounds like a lot but he actually lost weight at our last check up! It only took us 3 nights and he now sleeps through and that was 2 mths ago. For us CIO meant after he had gone down at night so we didn't just let him CIO when he first went down but anytime he work during the night. Good luck.
