Hi Florewill. firstly congratulations on your new arrival, life's gonna be a roller coaster after this! (in a good way!). It's wonderful that you have decided to join us here on the forum, Brillkids has alot to offer for your LO and so do most of the forum threads. I'm from KL too, and have 2 kiddos (23/11mo) and another on the way... a working mom too, so I completely understand the "mixed feelings". Have fun with the baby, and always remember the most important things is LOVE, LOVE and LOVE! I'll be free for meet ups and also maybe playdates after Feb or March 2012 as the little baby is due right around the new year. Good luck!

Dear msocorro, I managed to PT my son in under a day, by letting him run around with only his t-shirt. It has been 2 weeks, with absolutely NO accidents in the house. I'm very happy! 1 question though, when can I start putting on his pants?... I'm a little afraid he might not have enough time to pull it off and pee on time! Is there a time period before putting his pants on? And another thing is that I still have not brought him out of the house without his diapers... any idea how I can start this?

EARLY LEARNING / Teaching Your Child Math / Incorporating LM with DOMAN MATH
|
on: September 23, 2011, 05:45:51 AM
|
|
Hi all, I have been doing LM with my 23mo/11mo since 3 months ago, but for the past 1 month they have somehow lost interest in it. I have tried all methods, customizing, singing songs, but to no avail. So, I have decided to take a little break from LM but still don't want to lose this window of opportunity to teach them to love Math.
They love manual flashcards, and I plan to do Doman math with them using flashcards. Do you guys think incorporating the Doman method now from scratch, while taking a breather from LM is a good idea? There might be some overlap? Or should I just wait for another few weeks before restarting LM?
Any suggestion would be welcome!

Hi Jib, My DS was 19+ mo when I started the program (LR/LM/YBCR) and my DD 8+mo, this was 3 months ago. they still don't show fantastic reading skills yet probably because it's still too early to tell. But there's a definite increase in vocabulary in DS and also he can read a few words, DD can also show actions to very few words. I think you can still start now, the understanding and vocabulary for your son will definitely increase!!! Try the free trial to see how he likes it first, might give you an insight on what to expect.

Hello, I've only recently PT'ed my 22 month old son, and I guess I was pretty successful at it. almost no accidents these days! Used the 3 day potty training method. Well, scientifically, it takes roughly 20 minutes post drinking any kind of liquid for a child to urinate, and when it comes to food, that really depends on the type of food. If it's water based foods like fruits or vegetables, then anywhere between 30-45 minutes before urination, if food has very little liquid in it, then longer.
If you're wondering about bowel movements, that's not necessarily after EVERY meal. If a child is really ready to be potty trained, then he/she should have regular bowel movements at usually particular times in a day...
Hope this helps!!!

Hi all, Sorry for jumping in so late, it's Malaysia day and we went for the carnival!!!... neways, yeah Maquenzie, That was the LeapPad I was talking about, I've seen the Tag before and was quite impressed, price ok too... but regarding the LeapPad I think it's quite new and therefore expensive and I need to talk to ppl who've either seen or used it before before I make the "leap"! hehe... Thinking of getting it for my DS's 2nd birthday, not too sure if it's too early to do so, as the leappad is for 4-9 year olds.... any opinions???

Hi all, @ Maquenzie: Thanks for the great tip... now trying to train him to stand and pee (as he's a boy), and I guess it builds good coordination and aim... heheheheheh, so far no success yet as he still refuses to stand and insists to sit on his potty. I'm trying this because, when I bring him out like to shopping malls and such, I'm a little afraid to sit him on the public toilet seats...(OCD mummy), and I can't possibly lug around his potty can I? @Mae_Jakob_Ka: yeah, amazing huh?... that book you mentioned, by Nathan Azrin right?... I've heard some pretty good reviews about it...good luck, girl! Btw, I tried the 3 day PT... Will look and send you the link to it too... maybe you can combine the 2 methods? Just an idea... my DS was PT in a day and a half..., with only very very few accidents till date... (yay!)... but I must say, this was after much tears and frustration on my part prior to this forum. But now, it's well worth it... and I save on diaper money!

Hi. that sounds amazing!!! Just got back from London, and it's amazing that my friends over in the UK are completely dumbstruck when I tell them that my 22 mo is potty trained!!! Must have been that same thread, cuz I PT'ed him just before leaving (the 3-day PT), so it's easier for my mom to look after him Haha, these BK forums are superb if you actually take the time to read and follow... so I intro'd them to this and they are officially converted!!! haha... Now, if anyone does know, how and when do I start PT'ing for the overnights??? Any help, and I would be grateful!

Hi all, I'll be looking at this thread with anticipation... been trying to potty train my DS (22 mo) for the past 2 months (although not consistently) to no avail... was feeling like a complete failure after a friend told me she managed to PT her DD in under a month!!!... My DS refuses to sit in his potty unless his favourite dvd is on (YBCR) and does nothing in his potty... after half an hour of coaxing, rubbing his belly and making poopy noises( courtesy of mummy) he laughs and runs away... the minute I put his diapers back on, he gleefully screams "POOPY" and he poops and pees!!!... This is soooooooooooo frustrating ...(and expensive, cuz he's allergic too all diaper brands except the most expensive brand) @TeachingMyToddlers: I have as of today started singing to him about "where the poopy and pee pee goes"..."In the potty"... We'll see how it works... Thank you!
