What they do at my childrens school is both ways.  It is true that in the U.S  public schools they must show their work.   At my childrens school the teacher does not care how they get the correct answer as long as they are not cheating and he does teach rapid math, math tricks , vedic math etc... but to help in case the kids go to public schools he teaches them the method of showing work.  Funny though the kids at this school are in the top 1 percent in the world for math and it is such a small school.

We love using www.mindsprinting.com   for our 5 and 7 year olds.  You see with this program the child can keep on moving up in both math and reading and not be held back.  I still supplement the basics with time and accuracy with the kumon method.  I can not say enough good things about mindsprinting and it saves us a ton   You get not just addition, subtraction, etc,  you get a  wide range of topics...  At the moment my son is working on fractions, algebra, pos/neg numbers, long division and such.  I like that he can move at his OWN pace and if he needs extra practice in some areas he gets it......

Good Day,  I have a 7 year old boy who did not make our education cut off by 9 days.  So if he were in public school he would be grade 1.     He was moved up one grade at his private school and doing year 3 work..  The good thing is that they work to their ability and do not hold the children back.  At the moment he is working on fractions (adding , subtracting, multiplying , etc)   pre-algebra, long division,  for reading he is doing 5th/6th grade spelling and reading comp.  They once again placed him up a grade and now he is in 4th grade.  This school is NOT the norm ....  My child loves school,  is always challenged and is thought to think outside of the box.  If I did not have this school I would choose to homeschool him.  I know everyone does not have the choice to homeschool but here in Florida there are just so many resources and support   I wish you all the best in your journey .........

I can not get this to download correctly       RUN does not pop up as an option when I copy and paste the site.  It just says begin download.  Please help....  What browser do you use??  I was using firefox

Chris,  our private school received the first part of our order of 8 sets.  So far we are so very impressed with the quality of this product.   The keyboards are amazing.  I will do a follow up and also post some videos of our students learning and using the program.  Again thank you for all your support and help .

I was not trying to compare Santa to God but this is a good point..  I guess when I look back it looks like it....  Sorry

What if I compared  Shiva to Jesus or Mohammad to Krishna...   My point is some religions may believe they are REAL and some not...  Some would be VERY offended.  Many of us here on this board have different beliefs and thoughts and that is ok

I have made so many friends from all around the world

Would I be lying to my children if I said that Jesus is not the son of god but a profit ???   Or would I be lying if I said that Jesus is the son of god ????

I just think it is up to the parents to decide what they should do about santa....   I would RESPECT them either way.... Was Santa real I think yes.....

I think that it is each family's own choice.  Just like some believe that Jesus was the son of God other religions believe in Jesus but that he was a profit only.   Who is correct?????

This can get real tricky.

Would you like it if other children said that there was NO Jesus????  How would that make you feel??  I am NOT saying that there is not,  just saying.

Also have you EVER seen god ???   However  many of us are taught to believe in a god that we have NEVER seen....   Are we lying to our children when we teach religion???   There are so many things to think about when discussing these things...


Another point to ponder,   with out GOD this xmas we would have had NO Santa at our house...   But we were able to get a few gifts do to a last day arrival of MONEY that was unexpected.   Was this GOD working or was it just luck/??????????

We need to RESPECT others beliefs and choices.....
